Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

If you are not connected to the internet, you must use the disc for verification. Instant resumes etc should work only for the game disc that's in the drive.
If you are connected to the internet, it will just check for verification online. Instant resumes etc should work for any game installed on the HDD.
Since 6981 DaysThey did the same thing in regards to sim city. Damage control PR nonsense.
Need official confirmation on their used game policy, until then, ill go with what MS themselves have said...and then reiterated.
Also read that witcher devs are refusing to comment on whether the game will come out on Xbone. Now, either it's appearing at the MS E3 presser, or it's just not happening. Given their stance on DRM it could very well be the later?
Also red thread (dreamfall) don't like what they're hearing about the Xbone either. And are focusing on a PS4 version of dreamfall chapters while waiting for things to be changed and/or cleared up
MS need to remove that online DRM check and allow self publishing or i see more devs following suit.

Since 6903 DaysJust as with the old games on discs, you'll have to go back to the 360/PS3 for those as well. I really see no distinction here tbh. Old system with old titles, new system with new titles. Downloaded or not, the paradigm still stands.
Also: "If you're backwards compatible," he told The Wall Street Journal, "you're really backwards."
Oh sorry mr Mattrick, i was under the impression that the xbone was supposed to be the only box i needed.

Since 5768 Days1. Game install so no need for disk and every 24hrs it will do a check so online is required, not a big deal. Can play different games without disk swapping.
2. Dedicated server, should make online play better. They should also have free to play mode online mode though.
Looks like all the leaks and rumor about XO turned out to be right or partcially right anyways. I think this is really bad for game industry and if these are things to come then gaming is in trouble. One positive that might happen is, since they already had a demo of Kinect2 and all. So E3 they will not and show some of the 15 games in dev.
PS: Reading some of the post in this thread is funny. Some people don't even know what they are talking about
Since 7577 DaysDigital distro on platforms with no promise of legacy support is asking for trouble. And now that Microsoft is going full Steam ahead (hah!) in this direction.. things are seeming a bit convoluted too.
Since 7469 DaysAnd then even if they did, people are so commonly jumping through the channels that there is no assurance that they'll settle on any specific network's programming. With Netflix it kinda doesn't matter.
The idea is that the Xbox is betting everything on traditional live TV subscriptions, essentially ignoring where TV is headed when in fact that couldn't be any further from the truth. Popular television subscriptions right now are all including or have some of the best or even much better on demand services than I've seen even on Netflix. Fios on demand with my current television subscription gives me free and complete access to all content on the following.
Cinemax On Demand
Encore On Demand
HBO on Demand
Showtime on Demand
Starz on demand
Epix on Demand
Anime Network on Demand
and 16 other on demand services, all with what seems like hundreds of TV shows, movies etc. All 100% free with my subscription, available in both SD and HD.
I have access to every season and episode of Homeland, every season of Game of Thrones, and countless other very popular television series and movies. If I happen to forget to record the new GOT on my DVR, it's present in on demand the very next day for free and in HD. So, traditional television subscriptions aren't exactly doing so bad for themselves in the on demand arena. So when Microsoft is supporting certain television subscriptions with Xbox One, these amazing on demand services, the new way to watch TV as Korn put it (and I don't entirely disagree), are also very much coming along for the ride, too. This isn't just Microsoft being shortsighted and only going for good morning America and football. Far from it.
Comcast, DirecTV, Cablevision, Fios TV, Dish Network etc, most of these aren't going anywhere anytime soon. The notion that these services are all dying or already dead is premature and wishful thinking at best. The Xbox One, for people who already have and enjoy those services, simply provides some of those people with a way to get a bit of extra convenience, entertainment and value from their existing television subscription service. People think MS are wasting their time, but that's not even close to the reaction I've seen personally from a lot of people who seem pretty damn excited by the prospect that it can do as shown in addition to playing hardcore games.
Not everyone is saying the same thing, though, and it wasn't my intent to give off that impression, but a seriously surprising number of people are. There are some that were hoping to see more games, too, but almost nobody outside of game forums that I've seen are tearing MS a new asshole for all this other stuff, and that isn't because they don't all know about it. They are waiting to judge at E3. Most say "Well, it isn't releasing yet anyway, they have time to figure all that other crap out." That's exactly the way my detective buddy, his son, and my neighbors and friends that game are seeing it. The most harsh criticism I've seen has been not for all the other stuff like online requirements or used games. It's been "What the fuck was that event about!? Damn, where were the games? I thought they were going to shut that shit down with something big and then finish it up at E3, but they looked like they were trying to avoid showing too much violence." Anybody that had a major criticism thinks MS were overly concerned about showing too much violence, and their displeasure was always and 100% focused on not enough games. If Microsoft shows those people the games at E3, great looking games, and do so without seeming overly conscious about playing with kid's gloves, that takes care of the biggest criticism that I've heard outside of game forums and gaming news sites.
My three most used devices in my home right now are my PC, my television and my Xbox 360, in that order. Being able to bring my entire videogame console experience and all that may bring on a new xbox into my television viewing experience without having to switch inputs on my television is a pretty big convenience and added value as far as I'm concerned. Do people need this? Of course they don't. Were they even asking for this? Hey, most probably weren't. I sure as heck wasn't. I'd be completely fine continuing to do things the old fashioned way, but just because not everybody might be asking for something, doesn't mean that most wouldn't still consider it nice to have. Most once looked at DVR in the same way, and now so many have access to one. Many also once saw DVD and Blu Ray in a similar fashion. Just because only some might be able to take advantage of this doesn't exactly make it all bad. And then completely leaving out the HDMI-IN for tv set top boxes, the new xbox is likely going to support all the other stuff, too. Although, I hope to see a more common sense approach to policy on access than what is used currently.
Still, I'm moving soon, so I have no idea what I'll have in my new location. Come to think of it, I should probably check that out now while I'm at it. I'm sure my current setup would definitely be supported, but I didn't even think to check out what's available for my new address. Very long post, I know, but a lot of us hardcores like to think that we are literally the center of the universe, as do a number of sites, but what we all might appear to be thinking as a collective whole doesn't always translate to the reality of what happens at retail.
In conclusion, Microsoft always said their entire idea of what they wanted the next xbox to be would be a two part story, between that reveal event and E3. We saw the first part, and at E3 we'll see the rest. There will be no excuses then. No, "Well, let's wait and see what they do at this or that event." or "No, let's wait and see what they do closer to launch." E3 is it. On certain aspects, although not everything is finalized, there are fundamental disagreements. Literally nobody I talked to outside of hardcore gamers on forums etc are somehow pissed off or bothered by Kinect's inclusion. Nobody is flipping out about used games or online requirements. They just want to see the games. Is their focus simply too narrow minded? Maybe, maybe not. Some would say they are more focused on what really matters. Microsoft now needs to get on the same page.
I said a lot now, so I don't have to say as much later. In fact, I won't be posting that heavily anymore unless something significant happens.
