Or just don't buy EA games at all, its all a pile of junk anyway, unless you like sports games and sims.
I still want BF4, but then that's a game everyone i know wants too and one i'll play for a long time. Whether i buy it day 1 though...probably not.

I really want to see how EA try to explain away their sudden change of heart regarding online passes. Acting like they where doing us a favour, but in reality, know there where systems in place next gen to replace them. With xbone they're covered. They can say it's a manufacturer choice and it's out of their control. For PS4 tough, it's publisher choice, so blame still falls squarely on them. They're effectively replacing online passes for full game passes and then acting like they're the saviour of gamers...only someone like OP could try to spin that in a positive light.

I'm pretty sure the little hacker munchkins are thinking about how they can bypass the DRM on these consoles. The fact MS intend to use some code to allow soldiers in base camps to game without the internet seems like a good starting point.

I'm not actually strictly anti-DRM. I don't know how you could be and have hundreds of games on Steam. Backward-and-forward compatibility strike me as a big deal in these sorts of digital ecosystems.

Plus, you have competition. You're not put into a corner where every action lines corporate pockets. At least, not the same corporate pockets :D Competition is important.

With that in mind, Sony's solution is certainly more approachable. But I need more solid details. Details we probably won't get until after E3.

I'm getting an Xbox One, and it bothered me at first to see how much MS seemed to be screwing the pooch during their unveiling conference. I will be curious on price, and if MS offers the Xbox One at a big discount to make up for it on Xbox LIVE contracts. Also will any more be said on how the hardware specs match up to the PS4. I think most multiplatform games will look the same, it will be exclusives to PS4, that might really shine in a year or two down the road, and really set itself apart from the Xbox One. I have as PS3 and Xbox 360. I have 3 friends on PSN, and the max cap of 100 on Xbox LIVE. I've played with some of the same group of friends on Xbox LIVE since the first Xbox back in November in 2002. I have a lot invested in those relationships, and most have said they are getting an Xbox One. In contemplating their crappy conference (they did say it wasn't about games and to wait for E3) I do like that momentum has swayed to Sony, and that MS is on their heels, and switching gears and back tracking... uhmm... ohhh.... uh... not ready to state what our strategy is on that. C'mon you've screwed up and you're scrambling to see how bad you've screwed up.

Some things are set in stone. Hardware specs won't get any better. Prices and used/rental games might get better. Overall retail price. If the Xbox One is $100 or cheaper that could help them make up some lost momentum, but I'll hand it to Sony, E3 is a way for Sony to shine. E3 could make or break MS. I like that they got knocked down a few pegs. I really hate their proprietary headset tech direction. Also Xbox LIVE as a tech, functionality as it stands now, is definitively better than PSN, but PSN will for sure be as good as LIVE is now, so it is Xbox's turn to innovate, and move ahead. PSN Plus definitely offers a better value in game discounts and freebies, MS could learn a thing or two. I'd kind of like it if MS continues to screw themselves a bit even during E3... you know MS has their conference and announces price, and then Sony rolls out less expensive, and offers PSN Plus type perks for free or something, and no ding for used or rented games, and really has MS scrambling before launch. MS will be sure to beat Sony on price at this point. If Sony comes out cheaper at E3... MS will rework their price before launch or offer some killer Xbox LIVE contract incentive. MS has dug themselves too big a hole I think at this point, to come in more expensive.

I'm really eager for E3, to learn more... and about games for Xbox One. And strangely hope that PS4 and Sony continue to be a thorn in MS's side. MS needs to be taken down at least one more peg, to wake them up.

The problem is MS is once again setting everyone for disappointment by hyping up E3 so much. What worries me is that most games they will be present will end up being heavily dependent on Kinect functionality. Yes, they said 18 exclusives in one year and yes they said 8 of them are new franchise but what if all of those are all crappy kinect games a la Kinect Sports etc... The reason I say this is because they will want to push Kinect through their first party line-up because if they dont, none of the 3rd party will give it a second thought.

I am bracing myself for disappointment once again but I am willing to be pleasently surprised.

Yea lets forget about the casual crowd for a second, because we aren't that.

It's safe to bet that Xbones will sell to the general consumer because they don't know any better, of course core gamers are the ones that buy these systems at launch and that will matter.

Many multiplatform games will remain on 360 and PS3 for some time, so its up to MS and Sony to sell these systems as best they can and so far MS aren't doing a very good job.
All I was trying to say is that internet is not serious business. lol All this reaction on XO or XB1 whatever people are calling. Kinect2, used games and what not will not have a huge impact as people are reacting on interwebs. Sure there are going to be many who will look for other alternatives. I do agree with Angree joe that they have no advantage this time around with early start or anything for that matter expect Kinect. If Kinect do fails which is very unlikely, then XO will turn out to be Xbox 1 indeed. Chances of that is minuscule though.

I am willing to bet that all those 18 games will have some form of kinect functionality, to what extent though is yet to be seen.

They will, but some of them will just involve yelling at your television. Others will have you yelling in sign language. And then the rest, break dancing obviously.

I expect some of them to have better with Kinect features, but as long as you can choose to play with the controller only ill have no issue with it.

This kind of continued support for online service is what could help push PS4 along ahead of Xbox One.

MS only seems interested in nickel and dimeing us, and not offering value added perks.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/03/playstation...

MS needs to get off the stick.

Also Pachter seems to think the PS4 will clock in at $50 USD cheaper than the XBoxOne.

http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/03/pachter-ps4-xbox...

Not looking good for Xbox if this pans out to be fact.

Could I be swayed to Sony... E3 will tell?

Once you buy games when you are a PS Plus subscriber, do you get to keep them if you stop paying? if not, then it's not exactly a selling point for me to be honest.

Things you buy discounted are yours forever, things you get free are rentals, but on a console where rentals will potentially be defunct just like Xbone, digital rentals are the next best thing.

I went from a £40 a year XBL subscription that literally ONLY got me online. I just put that same money i was spending into PS+ where i get 60+ free games a year across PS3 and Vita. Plus heavy discounts on pretty much any and all new titles (of which you keep forever, whether you stay subscribed or not). There is value there, even as a "rental" service. Whereas a lot of people seem to have twigged onto the fact XBL is a massive rip off.

I have a feeling MS may adopt a similar service for Xbone though? Sure they can't keep their current model of paying just to play online?

Agree, rental alone is enough of a reason for me to subscribe to PS+, as someone who isn't a huge online/multiplayer gamer XBL has next to no value to me.

This seems like a non-issue really. Could you really imagine buying a PS4 and having no games to play? You can't.

Exclusives aside, which Microsoft has very few of anyway, the majority of games are multiplatform.

This is a new generation so new IP's are a given for both platforms, and what i mean is i'll not buy either platform day one if there is not a game that compels me to do so.

Good point, I might float that out there.

Besides the issue that a large majority of my friends are on Xbox LIVE, another consideration is that fact that I really dislike (hate is too strong a word) the position of the sticks on the Sony controllers.
Xbox 360 has by far the best controller, IMO. Probably because I the most used to it, but I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Thats one thing ive always hated (sonys reluctance to move the stick layout to match xbox). But sonys new controller looks better... they moved the two stick further from eachother and improved upon the "deadzone" problems on the DS3. Also the little indention on the sticks will help alot with control... but it still doesnt address the issue that the left analog would be better off placed where the dpad is currently.

controllers sticks should either both be up (Wii-U) or both be down (playstation)

there really is no reason for one to be in a different place then the other imo.

I dont know why but it feels more natural with them like that, its part of the reason the 360 controller is the best ever made, and most people agree.

No they don't, I think its fairly evenly split, of course if you socialise and chat to people who play on Xbox they are more likely to agree and vice versa.

I can't say it would be the end of the world if Sony moved the sticks but I do prefer where they are on DS3 and 4.
