Ce sera la première fois qu'un personnage fictif fait la couverture de la revue érotique masculine créée par Hugh Hefner en 1953. Le numéro de novembre sera en vente à partir du 16 octobre.
Marge Simpson n'apparaîtra pas nue dans "Playboy" mais les photos réparties sur trois pages "suggéreront la nudité" du modèle au très haut chignon bleu. En faisant appel à l'emblématique série animée, le nouveau patron du magazine, Scott Flanders, espère attirer des jeunes d'une vingtaine d'années, alors que l'âge moyen du lecteur actuel est de 35 ans.
