Which game is for you?
w/ Rainbow Six Siege close behind
But the awards are a joke anyway. Seems more often than not that moar hype = awards.
Cake or death!?
December kinda counts still!
Considering it was broke and not at full potential for a few months :P
I feel like there's probably some indie gems I just haven't tried yet

Did you actually play Uncharted?
But these games are not for me, i dont understand why pretty cutscenes trump game design. But i know its massively popular. It just seems utterly justified that OW got the award however. Good choice imo.

The graphics and attention to detail were relentless throughout and the game never stopped looking amazing but I can only push forward and smash the X button so many times.
Overwatch is really the only pick for GOTY. Even though Award shows are supremely subjective, I would have lost a bit of hope in the gaming industry had Uncharted taken GOTY instead of Overwatch at The Game Awards.

There's also less randomness in it's ranked gamemode compared to other competetive team games. Every player has similar cars and hits the same ball. Only difference between cars is the hitbox and turn radius.
Dirt Rally: Best rally game I played since Richard Burns.
Overwatch: At it's best Overwatch is in here too. At it's worst random teammates destroy the game by instapicking characters they can't play in ranked basically loosing you the game before it even started. And that happens alot which makes me beyond salty.
And I agree about Overwatch. Definitely well deserved and no other game came close to it.
Also, Dirt Rally at least deserved a nomination on best sport/racing, and Starbound also deserved a nomination on indy game.
Steam: ElectroManiac
Started playing it so late last year that it qualified for my list this year instead. :)
