Also, I've been thinking about picking up Luminous Arc. I've read in places that it's a nice RPG to "get into" for newbies, while it's still very competent beyond the accessibility. From what I've read the story is a bit weak though so I was wondering how weak weak means in this context? Is it like.. SUPER generic or does it feel engaging at all?

Keep in mind I'm bordering on a total RPG virgin so I really haven't seen any of these supposedly "canned" and "predictable" storylines very often.

Luminous Arc is great if you ask me, the story is quite generic, but full of cute anime style characters and such, one of the best DS games I have played.

Oh and because it has to be said the gameplay is much better than Jean D'Arc..... :P

Hmm... So cute anime style characters = make up for generic story or? I didn't quite follow that point I'm afraid. :D

I'm prolly quite easily pleased by a story as long as it's half engaging and not overly saturday morning cartoon (unless it's Avatar in which case it's brilliant, obviously) but I also feel that I'm prolly gonna have trouble getting into it if it's way too shallow.

Gah, so hard to decide. It costs peanuts now basically, and a sequel is on its way if I enjoy the first one, so a lot of things make it rather attractive.

To be awfully frank, Jean D'Arc comes across as a little bit silly because I know the hundred years' war and the story of Jean quite well, so it's like.. Gonna feel like making a game about Chopin (snigger) but a hundred times worse - no matter how gripping it may be. So yeah, pretty much a non-factor to me that game.

Pretty much, JRPG games are closly related to anime's which make them quite generic, but then I suppose that depends on how much anime you have watched.

I never get tired of it though :D

Heres the opening for LA, there are a few gameplay vids on there, but they look boring when your not playing them yourself.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksGAa7iI1So

A fairly standard play-through will probably net you around 12 hours of gameplay your first time through, though you could blow through it quicker if your goal is simply to get to the end as quickly as possible. But even with the element of surprise removed, the fantastic combat is more than enough reason to revisit No More Heroes. This time, SUDA-51 has delivered a game that can match its absurd premise with equally stimulating gameplay, making for one of the most unique and satisfying action games in recent memory.

I never really had any faith in the gameplay of No More Heroes after watching some of the early videos, and while more recent videos had me confident that I would like it, I remained doubtful that it'd recieve any kind of critical acclaim. Lo and behold, racking up a staggering 9.0 at Gamespot after recieving a 9 off EDGE has proven me insane amounts of wrong. I can't wait!

Sega announced Space Channel 5.0 for Wii, a remake of the classic dancing game, the game will have licensed songs from Michael Jackson.
Just how "announced" this is is definitely questionable.. being as nobody else has.. had it announced to them.. including the likes of Gamespot, IGN and Eurogamer.. But yeah, The Magic Box seem certain enough. :O

Well I ordered Luminous Arc after quite frankly becoming a bit bored with Valkyrie Profile. It's not BAD by any stretch, and the combat is really cool.. but the lack of any coherent story to give any of it some sense of meaning really starts to grate after a while. At least in the 6 hours I've played you're just going around picking up random people in any order.

Sooo, Luminous Arc on the way now and should arrive tomorrow. I've read up a bit on it and it's supposed to be quite easy to get into for newbies while at the same time not being rediculously shallow. It'll make a good complement to Lost Odyssey that I can play in my studio when I take breaks.

Has anyone picked up Advance Wars: Dark Conflict/Days of Ruin yet?

Michael Jackson owned all in Ready 2 Rumble Round 2

also, new Fatal Frame 4 images(most likely CGI) for the Wii, published by Nintendo for Summer '08 in Japan of course.

There has to be something wrong with my copy. It often picks continue the story when I wanna go shopping. :(

Well I have to admit it's not really jumping out of the DS at me yet. I switched to the d-pad controls because the stylus drove me nuts in menus (what region copy do you have Jolli? Maybe this is a PAL issue) and as a result it feels pretty mundane now. A bit on the shallow side even, and memories of Fire Emblem start to overshadow this.

I'll stick with it though, because the characters - and their voices even - are pretty likeable and there's plenty of character interaction inbetween battles which is nice.

I'm at least gonna give it until Revenant Wings is out here to capture my attention proper.

I got the US version, how far in are you, and how are yo playing it with the d-pad, ie the battles ? I didn't realise there was an option for that.

Um, options. :)

Just press start at the world map and go change "stylus" to "no stylus". If your copy isn't affected by this bug or whatever I see no reason to do it though, as the removed novelty of controlling it with the stylus had a serious impact on the fun of the battles for me.

I'm essentially nowhere yet, only clocked 2 hours. Fire Emblem for the GBA at this point had grabbed hold of me more though, and the same goes for Shining Force 2 and 3, but maybe this is just a slow burner.

Yea it is a bit slow to start with, I never checked the options, but yea your right taking away the stylus would make it less enjoyable, still wouldn't be as boring as Jean D'arc though...

I just beat Phoenix Wright. Awesome game, I should have picked it up years ago. I'm glad I got it, but the prospect of having 3 more games to get was exciting in the beginning. After seeing how long the games were, I'm not sure if I could do it all at once. Maybe I'll just skip all the way to Apollo Justice.
