My suggestion is to do neither.

Play them all but at a good pace, and play other games between them. Jumping right to AJ will make the others feel really old and you'd miss out on some awesome stories.

Luminous Arc is prolly one of the most unpretentious games I've played in recent years, but its characters really are likeable enough to keep on playing. It's pretty much dwarfed by Fire Emblem though, but hey there isn't a DS FE yet so that isn't really a problem.

On another DS RPG note, what's happening with ASH?

Never played a FE game, ASH crashed and burned in Japan, I doubt it will ever see a US/EU release.

I played the JP version can't say I was impressed really, but then I didn't understand any of the story so that probably plays a large part of it.

Yeah I've watched some vids of it and it frankly LOOKS rubbish, but then so do most RPGs unless you play them yourself.

I am yeah. :D

My conditioning has really worked. I've always had a terrible time with most RPGs, especially traditional turn based ones, but about a year ago I just sort of made my mind up. I knew I would love to experience the stories, and I really just put my faith in the fact that the gameplay DID and DOES have its appeal, even though I couldn't see it yet. It actually sort of bothers me when there are types of gameplay I don't know how to appreciate.

But yeah, trusting all the fans of jRPG - like you and Jolli whom I reckon I understand as gamers - I decided I was gonna play these things until they just clicked - sort of the way you learn to like beer and coffee even if both taste like poop to begin with - and now I'll be damned if I'm not having a lot of genuine honest-to-god fun with Lost Odyssey and this.

It's really quite exciting because it feels like I now see an entirely new layer of gaming. There are soooo many RPGs I wanna go back and play, especially on ps2 obviously. :D

This is great! and this is the case with JRPGs ... they do put you off at first but once you start to get them then everything just CLICKS! I used to be very much in the same situation as you. I HATED menu turn based combat but then there was Final Fantasy X which started it all. Now. it's my fouvarite genre :D

Revenant Wings is a sequel to Final Fantasy XII yeah, so the story takes place right after that.

There'll be spoilers in terms of who's dead and who isn't.. and I guess the overall conclusion to the conflicts in FF12, but from what I understand there won't be enough to actually spoil the previous game.

Nevertheless I'm holding off until I'm done with the PS2 game before I grab the DS game, but if you don't plan on playing that at all you'll be fine. I hear Vaan is actually a distinct character in Revenant Wings, instead of the constant :O face he was in 12.

2 hit RPG combo coming up.

First off, Sonic Chronicles has a bunch of screenshots courtsey of IGN I believe, but in a tidy order shown off at the magic box;

Spin dash over there

Looks SNAZZY in my wildly out of control un-humble Sonic opinion.

And secondly, a game I know absolutely nothing about apart from the fact that it's supposed to be made by Xenosaga folk. It's called Soma Bringer and from what I gather it's Monolith's first game under Nintendo flag.

Click to bring thyself to Gametrailers and the Soma trailer

I think it looks rather promising with some really cool visuals and good character designs.

I have been wanting to get Trauma center to the Wii.

But theres two games out on USA at least, second opion and new blood. My question is, should i wait for New blood to get released on Europe?

Or should i just get Second opinion?

I've heard New Blood is really really hard, so it's like they expect you to have played Second Opinion already.

New Blood has a completely new cast so it's entirely separate from the first game story wise. In that sense you can play them in any order or only New Blood if you like. Of course, with Second Opinion coming out a YEAR after its US release, New Blood is looking at november this year for PAL. :)

I've got Second Opinion and I recommend it.

Yeah, Red Steel is absolutely one of those trashy games that are kinda cool of you just deal with some wonkyness.

Be sure to turn off the sound coming out of the remote when you play it though, that sorts out the jittery crosshair problem.

Zack and Wiki is just dowright genious.

"Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World" For the Wii!
Set two years after the events of the award-winning Tales of Symphonia for the Nintendo GameCube™, Dawn of the New World follows the journey of two new young heroes, Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi, as they seek to uncover the mystery of why their world has fallen into ruin. In their quest, their paths will cross with the original cast of Tales of Symphonia including Lloyd and Colette, as well as a summon spirit known as Ratatosk who claims to be the lord of all monsters.
Looks really interesting! I also wanna Tales of Innocence (NDS) :D

I have been trying to find Tales of Symphonia from Gamecube, but its sooooo hard to find...
People just want such high prices... And from what i know cant buy USA version, even with freeloader to play on the Wii, because after the update 3. of the wii, freeloader doesnt work anymore :(
Am i correct?

Geez, theres plenty cool RPGs coming, finally! :D

Oh I love Eledees. It's such an overlooked game in the Katamari/Loco Roco/weirdness space. The voice acting is absolutely horrifying, but the music and the gameplay ideas - especially how they evolve over the course of the game - are surreal, dreamy, and frankly pretty great.

There's some unfortunate slowdown, but man that still can't spoil the experience.

Trust me, it'll do a Rez and come back in 7 years and grab lofty scores when boosted by cult value and people can't even remember why they had issues with the Wii controls in the first place.

Regarding gamecube RPGs, Fire Emblem and Baten Kaitos are both supposedly great (I know FE is from personal experience with the GBA ones), but the latter in particular is also near impossible to find in PAL territories now.

From what I gather it's possible to chip the Wii for gamecube imports, but lord knows how future firmware updates deal with a modchip - or if it's even possible to use its full online featureset with a chip installed. It'd be a bummer if you can't.

Want to add up that ordered Trauma center second opinion and Red steel.

They were here at cool prices, along with other games :D

http://www.choicesuk.com/specialoffersdetails.aspx...

And theres a Freeloader for the Wii!!

http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/Wii-FreeLoader_...

From what i heard, the latest update of the wii didnt kill the freeloader on purpose... They said it wasnt their intention, was something to do with chips, but freeloader got nabed.

But codejunkies, they can replace your freeloader, just contact them, and they will send you a new one, that will work on the latest update of the wii.

YAY, no need to wait for Brawl, and get No more Heroes with less blood in Europe!!

But i think i will wait bit, until Wii gets new update, and check if Wii freeloader still work after :)

So far I've been pretty satisfied with the distribution of Wii titles everywhere (sometimes slow, but they eventually come out, which is really all I ask), and I'm prolly in the minority of people who reckon the ash effect present in the japanese original and the european version of No More Heroes suits its overall retro arcade feel more than the blood gushes of the american one BUT! - there'll inevitably be a horde of Ouendan type MUST HAVES for Wii in japan eventually, and I wouldn't miss those for the world.

It's encouraging to hear that Codejunkies plan to follow up on potentially Freeloader breaking updates, but I'll still - like you - hold off and see how IT holds UP so to speak.

just a friendly reminder, the end time is slowly creeping up upon us. If there was anything you ever wanted to do in life, now is the time to get that out of the way. Since when Smash day approaches, all that you know will be at an end.

Well, the only reason I'm keeping my Wii is for that day alone. Shame I don't know when that is. There's no release date for Europe yet. I'm very close to selling it. It's gathering a thick layer of dust.
