Incredible. Pretty much makes it a runaway success, and the most impressively reviewed game in ages.
Still not a garantee to make it sell well aswell.. I think if they sell 1 million they will be happy.. It's SP-only, and I think the game is a bit to elitish and/or deep for the masses, if you know what I mean..

But who knows, I hope it will be a big seller.. Games like this deserve it..

I'm not reading any more review, I read the PCZone one and was content with it. It also had very little spoilers, and am afraid other reviews might. Still, all these reviews are making me cry harder. :/

What's that, four perfect 10's now?
After reading the Games Rader review and hearing why they think it is great, it is clearly the front runner for game of the year.
This is the really bewildering thing about it: it succeeds so stunningly on three different fronts. Not esoteric ones, either, these are the big challenges developers have been struggling to master for decades: narrative, emergence, a sense of place. If another game did just one of these as well as BioShock, it would immediately qualify as a classic. When a game comes along that does all three, we can only be baffled and thankful.
When a game is innovative without inserting a slew of additional issues, addresses core conceptial and implimentation issues of a genre, and nails the story, atmosphere, and design all together... wow. And when a game has beautiful graphics that run well with uncanny art, industry leading audio, and breaks down so many barriers to game design you just have to tip your hat and say:

Game of the Year.

I can only think of 1 other SP game coming out in 2007 that looks to challenge the core of not only its genre but how we approach games in general, as well as having a solid core of story/gameplay design/art/graphics/audio and that would be Mass Effect. Everything else looks like retooled evolutions of the same games (not a bad thing for fans of the franchise or genre) but still have the same core design hurdles they overlook and choose not to address.

Kind of nice to think about how FPS are evolving. Bioshock delves deep into AI, immersion, and RPG sandbox gaming. Mass Effect is a true to life action RPG with FPS combat and amazing RPG elements. Halo [appears to be?] creating huge battles [although their version of huge and a BF players version of huge may be different]. BiA3 is escelating the level of authentic, tactical squad shooter. BFBC is looking to destroy a central staple of gaming: interactive and dynamically destroyable world objects. Crysis is going with a huge world, sandbox gaming where you can pick your path and choose to interact and obstruct the AI in your own way (direct assault, close down a road, whatever).

It has taken a few years, but it looks like developers are finally using new hardware to challenge core design issues. I like.

The fans have spoken. Concerning the graphics of the Halo 3 Beta: "There's so many little effects and things going on that make this game pretty much 2nd only to Gears at the moment."

Its an interesting development that many of the best looking games are putting as much freedom and control in the player's hands as possible. Giving us the option to play the game the way we want, and making each experience unique. Assassins Creed allowing you to approach each situation and assassinate each target in your desired method, Mass Effect allowing you to choose how to interact with the other characters and actively choose which path you want to go down, Bioshock giving you a plethora of combat options to choose from, etc.

I like the direction games are going, and more of the same, please. :D

I think Bioshock will be better than ME personally, it looks alot more immersive and involved. Both will be must-haves though.

I picked up a free swedish game magazine called "GameReactor" and it had beta test from Killzone 2, MGS4 and Haze (i think) and on the cover it has a big review on BioShock.

GameReactor gave the game 9/10.

Great news. Been waiting for that. Although I played 360 demo 10 times already. Nice to finally see how it runs on my PC. I think all at minimum it could run fine if so PC version is mine.

If the demo doesn't come out tomorrow GRRR :P
