GSY Review PS5 Xbox Series X PC

The release of 007 First Light this week is a bit of a milestone for all the reasons we mention in the very first paragraph of this new in-house review, but for us, it’s above all the immense satisfaction of having been able to finish the adventure just in time to share our detailed impressions with you. It was a real marathon that we don’t regret at all, even though it was intense. So without further ado, we invite you to discover our verdict on James Bond’s return to video games, knowing that we’ve taken great care to reveal almost nothing about what awaits you.

007 First Light is set to release in two days, but while you have to wait a bit more to find out our final verdict tomorrow afternoon, we’re pleased to share the first thirteen minutes of the adventure with you. IO Interactive released this new video to build anticipation for the launch, showcasing all the work that went into proving the studio is fully capable of producing carefully staged, scripted experiences. We're also sharing the game's launch trailer that we failed to show you before, but stay away from it if you don't want to see too much of what awaits you.

IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios today revealed a new trailer for 007 First Light, offering players a deeper look at the game’s key features and reveals what it means to be a modern MI6 recruit. As a reminder, the game will be released on 27 May 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, followed by a release in summer 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2.

In case you missed the news some time ago, 007 First Light will feature a well-known name from the music world in its cast, as Lenny Kravitz will play the Pirate King Bawma, the kind of person you apparently don't want to be messing with. To see him in action, just take a few minutes to watch today's video.

Yesterday's presentation of 007 First Light at Sony's State of Play made a point of showing what we can expect from the game in terms of variety. Developed by IO Interactive, it's impossible not to notice all the elements from the Hitman series that have been incorporated into this new James Bond title. Mechanics, visual assets, animations, the crowd system (with the same limitations) – it's not so far removed from the approach taken by the teams at From Software, who capitalize on their previous games to create more complete experiences. You could almost see bits of Kane & Lynch in the airport sequence. Technically, however, there is still a lot of work to be done to get the game ready for March 27, 2026: frame rate still struggles, motion blur is way too strong, chromatic aberration is very aggressive and some shadow flickering. Clearly, the remaining months will have to be spent optimizing all of this and hopefully it will. On the other hand, we imagine that the stiffness of the animations (especially when James moves along ledges, in hand-to-hand combat, it's thankfully better) cannot be improved, nor can the excess of clones in the crowd. We are therefore awaiting the game with cautious curiosity that only a hands-on experience might fully convince us of the game's potential. What did you think about presentation?

Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
