GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

For the final part of our coverage of Far Cry: Primal, we saved the best for last. The PC version of the game will be available this week but since Ubisoft provided us with a review code, we had the chance to capture some footage a bit early for you guys. Miguel took care of it and apart from the few problems caused by Mirillis Action! you might notice from time to time in the videos, he enjoyed a perfectly smooth and optimized experience. He was just surprised to see neither HBAO+ option nor special fur effect as in Far Cry 4. As for antialiasing, there is no MSAA to be seen, but the game still looks great thankfully. Why don't you see for yourself and check out our 1080p/60fps videos?

GSY Review PC PS4 Xbox One

When Far Cry: Primal was announced 6 months ago, no one truly expected to see a new game in the series so soon. As a result, many people were a bit worried, thinking Ubisoft would do Assassin's Creed all over again. In the end, this new episode may not include tons of new features, but everything we've been doing in Far Cry for the past 3 years (collecting resources, crafting and hunting) now makes even more sense in a prehistorical context. For us, it worked like a charm despite the (very) few uninspired dream sequences the shaman gives Takkar in the course of the main story. The surprise is that this is a very solid Far Cry game and that it doesn't need guns to be good. The problem is that those who have already played the last 2 episodes may have had enough for now. As for us, we were happy we didn't play much FC4 because it may have helped us enjoyed Primal even more.

GSY Live PC PS4 Xbox One

Last part of our preview coverage of Far Cry: Primal with a new gameplay video introducing a bit of snow, some more beautiful landscapes and a couple of feline companions. We also remind you that we will be live playing the game tonight at 10:15 CET and we will try to answer as many of your questions as possible.
Upgrade: The replay is up!

Developer Diary PC PS4 Xbox One

The fourth behind-the-scenes video of Far Cry: Primal deals with the back story of the game. How research, experts and actors' preparation helped bringing the visual design of Oros and its people's languages to life. The game will be out in five days.

Far Cry: Primal is back on Gamersyde with some open world gameplay including no spoilers at all. This time, we made sure the RGB range was to full so the balck levels would be normal (hopefully). You'll get a feel of the game's atmosphere without the risk of seeing too much, so we hope you'll find something here that is worth a look.
Note: Since we're not that good at taming wild animals yet, we hope you'll forgive the casual behavior of our wolf as we're trying to remain stealthy in the fourth video. He'll learn to behave eventually. Maybe.
Update: Four videos added, two having been captured during an early main mission.

After the preview event we were invited to, we got our hands on the final version of Far Cry: Primal on PS4. We don't have much to share with you if you have already seen our previous footage, but this time at least, the videos we captured have been approved by the Gamersyde seal of quality as we could use our own equipment. We'll show you more of the game this Friday in a new livestream (10:15 CET) and our full review should be up on Monday with more direct feed videos. Until then, enjoy the footage! More to come in the next few days.
Update 2: One more video added (all videos were captured in hard mode).
Note: Our PS4 having decided to use the automatic RGB range instead of the Full Range we had set up a long time ago, the black levels are not good in our videos. Sorry about that.

GSY Preview PC PS4 Xbox One

Last week, we were invited at Ubisoft's to play three hours of Far Cry: Primal and we were able to capture some footage using their own equipment. As you can imagine, the quality isn't as good as ours and compression is clearly visible, but still, you'll be able to see the game in action. Also worth mentioning is that we had to play with French subtitles, which means you won't be able to understand what's going on (the audio language having been totally invented). On the bright side, it means you don't risk getting spoiled. Although we were not particularly enthusiastic to discover this new episode, we have been pleasantly surprised by its atmosphere. It may not be more difficult than the previous games in the franchise, but there is a sense of vulnerability we didn't get with the heavily armed "superheroes" we used to play. We'll see if the game doesn't lose any of its initial appeal too soon when we can play the final build in a few weeks time.
