GSY Video PS5 PS4 Switch

It was something PlayStation 5 owners didn't understand was missing in the Red Dead Redemption port that came out ok PlayStation 4, the absence of 60 fps support has now been fixed. If you own Sony's latest console, you can now enjoy very smooth gameplay thanks to backward compatibility and it's a great way to go back to this all time classic. Clearly, this adds a lot to playability and the controls feel much better with such high frame rate. It's a shame that Xbox owners can't enjoy it as the port was released for them and the only way to play the original game is at 30 fps.

GSY Video PS5 PS4 Switch

After all the rumors, Red Dead Redemption did return but it was a rather lazy port, despite a few noticeable imporvements over the original game and even the version running on backward compatibility one Xbox One X and Xbox Series X|S. FSR2 has indeed been used as an antialiasing method to boost image quality on PS4 Pro and PS5 and the game looks very sharp in 4K with more defined shadows. The Switch version is also pretty good as it runs in 1080p with a steady 30 fps framerate (like all PlayStation versions). Needless to say it's nice to be able to play such an iconic game in portable mode. Still, we can't accept Rockstar's decision to ask for such a high price, especially considering they could have done more with this port, like by pushing framerate to 60 fps on PS5 among other things. As a result, we can only advise you to wait for a sale before you put your money down.

GSY Video Xbox One

Microsoft just gave players around the world a new reason to be interested in the purchase of a band new Xbox One X, by releasing a 4K patch for Red Dead Redemption, which can now be enjoyed to the fullest on current television sets. This new update is yet another proof that an official remaster of the game is never going to happen, something which was very unlikely anyway. The good news is that the Xbox One X patch improves image quality tremendously, as proven by a first gameplay video inside, which should soon be followed by a second when it's done encoding.
Update: Second video added.

GSY Video Xbox One

Red Dead Redemption may not have been updated for Xbox One X, but some people still asked us to record some footage on Microsoft's new console. The result is unsurprisingly similar to what can be seen on the base Xbox One, with probably better texture filtering. The game would clearly benefit by having the same 4K patch applied than Halo 3, Oblivion or Fallout 3, but nothing has been announced yet. One might also think that Rockstar would be interested in making a 4K remaster of their iconic title, but for some (odd) reason, L.A Noire comes first.

GSY Tech Xbox One

We have all been waiting for Red Dead Redemption's backward compatibility and it's finally here! You can now play John Marston's adventure on Xbox One and we have prepared a first GSY Tech video to compare both versions (the original on Xbox 360 and the emulated one on Microsoft's current hardware). We'll have more as soon as possible, but in the meantime, enjoy!
Note: The 0 fps drops in the first video are due to the appearance of the different writings the plugin misinterprets.
Update 2: Added a fourth video.

First 10 minutes Xbox 360 PS3

Halloween is upon us and John Marston is about to live a real nightmare in Rockstar's latest downloadable content for Red Dead Redemption. In Undead Nightmare, which is an independent chapter from the main story, Marston will indeed have to face hungry zombies and other mythical creatures too. Expect a lot of second degree here obviously (the beginning of the game actually reminds a bit of Braindead), it is safe to say that this additional content really is worth the 800 Microsoft Points ($10) necessary to get it. As the game has gotten a little more challenging as well, since you must apply the "Headshot's the only true stopper" technique in order to gun down zombies once and for all, those who play the game in manual mode should be pleased to prove their worth. Here is the first 10 minutes of the adventure a second part will also be added shortly.
Update: Second video is up, with a little more action!
