Microsoft just released some new images of Forza Motorsport 3 showing the Le Mans track. A press event with the game is happening there right now, but we missed it. Ha well, enjoy these images.
Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

I've seen some photomode shots of Forza 2 that looked photorealistic (seriously). GT5 does the same in screenshots and trailers, pick some perfect angles and lighting conditions, boost AA, add blur and depth of field, adjust colour saturation, adjust contrast/brightness and there you go: A beautiful screenshot...unfortunately not even close to being representative of actual gameplay footage...

Commented on 2009-06-12 23:04:46However.. im not sure about the lack of a day/night cycle and no weather effects in forza 3.. this is LE MANS 24 HOURS.. get it turn 10? 24 hours.
so emulating 24 hours without night time racing is just weak.. even GRID did it and that is a arcade racing game.

No they didn't so wait and find out.
GT5's screenshots are also photomode.

Commented on 2009-06-12 23:44:16 In reply to FordGTGuyIn short...NO. What do I base my conclusions on? Forza 2 and the GT series as well as the Forza 3 gameplay footage shown thus far.
Furthermore, I've been able to replicate this "phenomena" with Cryengine 2 Sandbox editor. I've been fooling around with that and have been able to take snapshots of scenes that look almost photorealistc, all in-engine and playable. How I did it? By adjusting time of day settings, contrast levels, adding blur/depth of field etc. Problem is, it only looks photorealistic in certain 'perfect' conditions and at certain positions/angles (for instance, looking in direct sunlight with the sun at the highest position with only tree's and buildings in the distance visible in the scene. The depth of field and blur helps eliminate the obvious lack of real world details. And the thing is, as soon as I move to a "less ideal" spot, the game looks not even close to being photorealistic (throw in a few characters or vehicles and the illusion of photorealism is immediately vanished).
I'm pretty sure most developing studios take this exact approach to create these 'PR shots' or scenes. It's a clever trick as you can claim it's all in-enige, but it's the most deceiving PR-trick of all...

The last footage shown of Forza 3 was an unpolished month old build. It only makes sense that the game would look better after being polished for a month.
Commented on 2009-06-12 23:55:14 In reply to FordGTGuyOther than that, I'm hoping to be impressed by this game in terms of visuals. I know I will be in terms of gameplay as I think Forza 2 probably has the most satisfying handling/feel out there. The addition of a cockpit view pretty much completes it, except for the visuals...so far from what I've seen.

90% of that E3 trailer for GT5 was actual in-game with no touch ups. The WRC and JGTC scenes were the heavily touched up ones. I don't know which 'photomode' screens you're talking about but GT5 comes closest to matching the supersampled renders PD puts out period

Like I mentioned previously, its funny that the awesomeness of Forza III a.k.a. the real console simulator vs. the 'Perfecting kart bumper physics' simulator makes some fronts so desperate... Just lulz worthy
