I'd like it free too, but if we have to pay for new outfits, then we'll probably have to pay for something that's actually of some value...

EDIT: They call it Premium DLC, which reads as Paid DLC.

traded in my copy weeks ago. Awesome game, but way too few maps. And the $10scheme was a joke..adding no value, under the disguise of offered for free. Plus they were also charging for the Dr pepper skins ect here.

Whats the betting that this, more than likely not already on the disc..and requiring a download, will have a price attached to it.

Just been reading up on this, this is exactly my type of preferred game mode. I'm thinking it'll be 800 points

So how is this going to work? Servers are already full for 32 players games, how are they going to have enough servers for 4 player games.

yep 800points. So their "project 10 dollar" VIP reward scheme for this game resulted in little more than them locking content they already charged us for, marketing it as free dlc support, and then charging for the first dlc that does actually requier a download - nice.

I'd of much prefered EA and Dice to learn the meaning of a "map pack" - generally new maps, and offer that if they're going to charge 800points for it

@bleachedsmiles:

I don't understand what your complaint is.

If you buy the game new you don't pay for the VIP. That's the whole point. If you buy it used, at a reduced price, you will need to buy VIP access. obviously because used games don't give them anything.

I'll agree though, this game needs more maps. and I have no interest in this mode.

my complaint is that the VIP scheme is supposed to be designed to "reward", or atleast encourage, you to buy new.. offer something to benefit you. Correct?

In Mass effect 2 this appeared to be the case..because actual additional effert appeared to of been spent on the dlc.

With this game though the VIP scheme didnt reward/benefit those that bought it new.. it simply locked us out of content on the disc. EA then marketed their unlocking that content as supported free dlc map packs.

My complaint is that for this scheme to work i dont expect to be locked out of content i've already paid for and then told i'm being offered it for free. For a £50 game i expect all the content available the moment i own the product..not offered to me in portions when it suits them.

If the VIP scheme offers something actually additional to the game contents on the disc, and offers it months down the line to make sure i hold on to my copy then fine.. it can saftly be valued at $10. You can not place a $10value on dlc that's already on the disc though.

Seriously this game has been out for what? 2 Months and we have to pay for this shit...

Companies like Valve just show how it's done;

Team Fortress 2;
That game is 3 years old but we still receive totally free updates for that game, including the upcoming Engineer update.

Left for Dead 2; Received another "campaign" for free, couple of weeks ago.

Counterstrike Source;
Available immediately, Valve has launched an extensive update to Counter-Strike: Source, now in beta. The update includes a host of new features and functionality developed in collaboration with Hidden Path Studios.

This beta will run for a limited time, and once complete, the update will be deployed to all Counter-Strike: Source owners for free via Steam.

Features new to the beta

* 144 achievements added
* New lifetime player stats and summary screens
* New match player stats and summary screens
* New end of round display with MVP and interesting fact about a player
* Updated scoreboard with new icons, visual style, MVP stars, and avatar pictures
* New cinematic death camera
* New domination and revenge system
* Added avatar icons to voice chat, scoreboard, and end of round display
* Incorporated many source engine updates
Do I need to say more?
