It's been a loooong time now since this Blue Dragon trailer was first shown in Japan, but for some reason it was never released as a good quality version until now. So enjoy this video, I sure did :) Update : Trailer removed.
I can't understand why the developers haven't released any new trailers or screen shots for this game. The game was first shown back as far as E3 2005 along with Lost Oddessy. Sometimes I almost forget that the two games are still in development when there hasn't been any concrete information on the games' progress. There becoming vaporware as each day passes with nothing new on the internet or press.
This is a great great great video it just shows how cool this game is gonna be... It's like... well its like a playably disney movie :)
I love the graphics and i love the concept, microsoft need more games like this ... designed for basically all audiences because i can see little kids playing this and adults it just looks fun... kind alike raymen rabbits..
But like they said Lost Odyssey and this game need more advertising and more videos and screenshots to pump them up... microsoft is too focused on a few hardcore games (im not complainin because i love those hardcore games like GeoW and Forza2 and Fable2) but the fact is the games like this and lost odyssey are what will spark up general adoption of the 360 and perhaps spark sales somewhat in japan and other areas like japan.

It appears the music does a lot of skipping in this mid anyone else notice like small rather noticeable interruptions in the sound of this trailer?
Man I'm really glad this trailer is out I'm noticing all sorts of extra little details that I didn't before. Like we didn't completely get to see him with his mouth open before when his dragon did the fire attack. He looked a lot more cell shady in the fist vid when they showed his face before the dragon came out (but it looked perfect in this video) You can clearly tell the beginning is cg, but in my opinion the ship looks just as good.
I notice where some improvements need to be made on parts of the landscape, but again this is from december of last year anyway and to be honest even if it shipped exactly the way it is in this trailer I'd be pleased. It was cool seeing the feet of the phoenix (not sure if we saw it before) The smaller of the 2 girls for some reason looks a bit better... I wonder if there were modifications done.
Well, graphics are ok... But I dont really like mr. Toriyama's art:/ Actually, I think I hate mr.Toriyama's art... It's always way too "Dragon ball"ish, for me.

Not even close to vaporware they are just keeping info close on the stuff. Considering how important these titles will be its best to release media at just the right time and according to the games global product manager the plan is to have a media explosion at TGS then to release lots more media to many japanese magazines and websites following tgs up until the game's release. In other words when we get media on this game it will practically be a finished product with minor adjustments needing to be done.
Actually the game is more than beautiful. I just don't want to build up my hype for this game all over again just to be let down when I find out that it won't be released this year. If it doesn't release this year, it will be just short of two years from the time the game was first shown at E3 2005. We didn't even get to see the game at E3 2006. That bothers me. Wasn't this title supposed to be one of the titles that would grab the early japanese adopters. Well, they're very late. Damnit now I'm getting mad all over again. I want this damn game now.
Skies of Arcadia was a great game, and it was turn based. I wish more game worlds were like Skies of Arcadia. I really miss that game, sigh............
I just love his facial expression when he brings out his dragon. The position of his eyebrows etc just looks great.
Roxwell the battle system is turn based with a revolutionary twist. Rest assured it wont be like previous final fantasy games where you have to stand in a set position as you fight (you can know this simply by how the game was demonstrated to ign and gamespot) The characters were moving around and the shadow was moving dynamically.
You'll definitely be able to freely move around as you fight in this game but as far the rest of the details go your guess is as good as mine. I suspect that for many melee attacks including spells it'll likely play like an action game likely with the press of the a, b, x, y buttons and possibly others such as the RB and LB might be used for different things. I suspect one of them buttons may be used to change your shadow type at will from like assassin type to magic type.
They'll stretch out to great lengths to strike at enemies, and, again, this animation will be generated dynamically by the engine based on the positioning of your character and his or her target.
Now one has to ask WHY exactly would the animation need to be generated dynamically by the engine based on the positioning of your character and his or target? Because you'll be able to move around in the game during battle.
1)the reason why mistwalker and ms are not releasing info on this game is b/c of a stratagic reason.think about it. this game is designed to attract japanese gamers, it would be pointless to realese detials on e3 sure it would nice but it would not have a big impact if lets say it was shown at tgs (japan home soil)
2)the lesss we no about it the more want it .which i think is a good plan
3) mistwalker does NOT want to follow the footstpes of silicon knights (E3 too human) we all know what happend to it as result of an early build. mistwalker is avouding that as much as possible
This game is about amazing as it looked on Dreamcast graphically, I am really a fan of this game but they could have done more with the graphics this looks more like a ps2 port.
Opps I was referring to tokyo extreme racer (tuner challenge) with that comment above.
Don't flame me, this game looks great but mass effect is starting to make it look a little dated but this trailer is dated so the final product will probably but much better. And yes I am aware of the art differences.
