Bizarre Creations has not forget the forthcoming release of Blur and has therefore put online two tutorial videos dealing with the career mode and the effective use of each power-ups.
I initially preferred S/S over Blur but at the weekend I played Blur solidly. went from rank 1 to 15. It's the most fun I've had playing MP for years.
Rank 8 opened up Motor Mash which is 20 player destruction derby. There is a dust bowl level where wveryone starts on the ridge and then drive towards each other.
Powerups are fun and balanced, cars handle well. You can do high speed races with high class cars.
I can't wait to get back into it. The beta was closed today I believe.
I have played the beta for some time but I didn't have that much fun with it.
The handling of the cars felt so strange even for a arcade/fun racer but Bizarre has shown that they can do very good physics/ handling with the PGR series and the power ups felt strange. Maybe that disappears if you play longer :(
S/S was the other way around. I really love Pure and had high hopes for S/S. When I played the demo for the first time I was surprised by the car handling. Pure was too "floaty" and the cars in S/S felt sooooo heavy and glued to the track. Anyhow, Black Rock/Disney gets my money when S/S gets a bit cheaper in the UK because Alan Wake LE and Red Dead already raped my wallet
For me neither SS nor Blur really delivered in terms of the beta/demos. That said, while SS was just a pile of shit IMO, Blur was at least fun, just not up to the quality of PGR games for me.
I'll rent Blur and give it a proper go, but I can't see myself buying the game when there are so many other big games coming out.
Yep after playing both games demos blur wins, although I am interested in seeing what S/S offers in respect to online multiplayer because 1player mode is just damn boring.
