Resident Evil 3 is set to launch on April 3rd 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and Steam.

RESIDENT EVIL™ 3 MODERNIZES THE CLIMACTIC EVENTS OF RACCOON CITY IN APRIL 2020
Outlast the Terrifying Nemesis in Resident Evil™ 3 or a Devious Mastermind in the Online Asymmetrical Multiplayer Game Resident Evil™ Resistance

SAN FRANCISCO – Dec. 10, 2019 – Today on PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, Capcom celebrated the 20th anniversary of the survival horror classic Resident Evil™ 3: Nemesis by unveiling a completely reimagined Resident Evil™ 3. On the heels of the award-winning Resident Evil™ 2, this highly demanded follow-up in the 94 million unit selling franchise once again utilizes Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine to complete the Raccoon City story arc. Resident Evil 3 stars Jill Valentine – one of video games’ most iconic heroines – as she escapes from a crumbling Raccoon City while being pursued by the unrelenting bioweapon Nemesis. Players can also participate in previously untold Umbrella experiments on the outskirts of Raccoon City in the included online asymmetrical multiplayer game Resident Evil™ Resistance, previously known as the working title Project Resistance. Resident Evil 3 will be available on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and Steam on April 3, 2020.

Resident Evil 3 is set amidst the nightmarish outbreak of the T-virus, a biological weapon developed by the pharmaceutical company Umbrella Corporation. The game marks the debut of Nemesis – a towering humanoid bioweapon designed for both brutality and high-functioning intelligence – whose dogged hunt of S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine made him an icon of the Resident Evil™ series. Armed with an arsenal of high-powered weaponry and wrapped in a black suit to hide his mutilated features, Nemesis will maim, pulverize or destroy any obstacle on the path to his target.

Jill’s harrowing escape takes place in the panic-stricken hours leading up to and following the events of the acclaimed best-selling Resident Evil 2. Intense combat and puzzle solving combine to deliver the heart-pounding final chapter of Raccoon City’s collapse. The horrific settings from the original game and new content come to life as never before with RE Engine, previously utilized to create the acclaimed Resident Evil™ 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry™ 5 with high-definition graphics and modernized gameplay mechanics.

Complementing the action-packed single player campaign is Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical 4 vs. 1 multiplayer game originally unveiled as a working title at Tokyo Game Show earlier this year. As the Mastermind behind the scenes, players can assume the role of key Resident Evil characters like Annette Birkin in a series of deadly experiments. Manipulate the environment and wield a deck of cards to place vicious creatures, set traps and weaponized security cameras to snare hapless Survivors. A first for the franchise, Masterminds can even directly control elite bioweapons like G-Birkin and Tyrant. In turn, four Survivors must effectively work together, making the most of a variety of weapons and each player’s unique special abilities, to stand a chance of escaping the experiment before time runs out.

North American console players will also be able to purchase a Resident Evil 3 Collector’s Edition. This premium package contains a physical copy of Resident Evil 3, a high quality Jill Valentine figure, printed artbook, a Raccoon City map wall poster and a digital Resident Evil 3 soundtrack. Those who pre-order will also receive the exclusive Classic Costume Pack that features the original design for Jill Valentine and hairstyle for Carlos Oliveira.

Can't believe they trolled us disguising it as new "RE Project Resistance" single player footage during the stream. And even though it leaked, it was still surprising lol.

Thanks for the high quality trailer and images. The game looks very good, and it's coming out so soon after Resident Evil 2. I was expecting it to come out in Q4 2020, but April is even better.

2020 is really stacked to the brim with epic games: Hollow Knight: Silksong, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us: Part 2, Doom: Eternal, Marvel's Avengers, Dying Light 2, Halo Infinite, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Ghost of Tsushima, Psychonauts 2, Watch Dogs: Legion, new System Shock, Cris Tales, Tales of Arise, new Oddworld: Soulstorm, Wasteland 3 and so many more.

Then there's the unannounced games and the new consoles, PS5 and XB4. And now Resident Evil 3 Remake. Thankfully, I bought a brand new 4K TV on Black Friday. Because my wallet couldn't handle if I left everything for 2020. Then there's time, how to find time to play all that... well, it's not like sleep is essential. Fuck my backlog.

Is it first person? VR? I'm interested if so. Not so much if it's like REmake 2.

Third person as it should be Resident Evil game.FP/VR is hard pass for me.

Seeing this poll the interest in first person RE is not big - https://www.resetera.com/threads/hey-capcom-where-...

As much as i wanted a new VR Resident Evil (more immersive, i don't care for the back of my character), i think they will follow the route of RE2 since it's its sequel. Otherwise you know the internet will throw a tantrum

yes from certain angles, especially the lower part of her face. I think they did her justice though. Alas the same cannot be said about the new Nemesis.

Resident Evil 3 Remake is in 3rd-Person View. It was confirmed along with more details and additional gameplay footage - including the dodge - in the "Resident Evil 3 Special Developer Message" video in the Resident Evil official YouTube channel (link below):

was hoping for an optional 1st person view mode for PSVR. having her run in 1st person was such a tease. would be a dream to have Nemesis chase you in VR.
but I also know its unrealistic for them to create a 1st person and 3rd person view mode.

same as the RE2 remake. more gameplay of it below.

they're also reusing all of RE2 remake's zombies and locations.
hence why this game will be released soon next year.

The 1st person view really is teasing, and I hope its not just for some kind of cinematic effect. They used the actual game to show it too, so makes you wonder if its a playable camera option. RE2 in VR would have been incredible too, but heart attack inducing. Seriously don't think I could handle it, especially in the flooded, dark parts of the RCPD.

Re4 already had up to date mo-cap.
plus a HD remaster was already released. not much else they can do.
Code Veronica on the other hand. yeah that needs a remake.

Nice to see they didn't cave in towards the nostalgic pervs and gave her an outfit that makes SENSE. Although I gotta admit that I find it a bit too similar to the new Lara Croft's iconic one. But still ,better than the original RE3 for sure.

doubt it. it's a much larger undertaking that i doubt capcom see much value in seeing as they've released so many ports and remasters of that game already. plus the original trilogy were incredibly small scale games compared to RE4. which is why they seem to be knocking these out at a pretty rapid rate.

code veronica is a likely candidate for the next remake, but i honestly hate that game. a new perspective might help a little, but even conceptually i didn't like it. the main villains, the new enemy types, the story...fucking steve!...just everything about that game sucked and i'm not sure there's anything to be done to fix those things.

personally i'd like a RE-REmake. basically take camera and mechanics of REmake 2. and stick them in REmake 1, complete with crimson zombies and Lisa. REmake2 worked best in the dark claustrophobic corridoors of the RCPD, and i imagine that would be multiplied in the mansion setting. plus it would bring the entire original trilogy up to date and consistent.

yea that sounds like a good route to go. Also I wonder if they would do an all new RE in this style as opposed to first person/VR, or they could do both I suppose.

Yes, I know it's 3rd person, but they haven't dismissed it not having a 1st person option in there. RE2 initially was supposed to have multiple camera options to suit fans wanting fixed cameras, fans that wanted over the shoulder a'la RE4, and a new camera system, it being a first person view because it worked well in RE7.
