Good things come to those who wait: Cyberpunk 2077 received a special update this week to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro’s increased power. The update includes a Ray Tracing Pro mode running at 30 or 40 frames per second (depending on your display—60 Hz or 120 Hz) with much better shadows than in the equivalent mode on base PS5, a Ray Tracing mode targeting 60 frames per second (the one CD Projekt RED recommends), and finally, a Performance mode, which offers a higher resolution than on the standard PS5. Of course, all three modes benefit from the latest version of PSSR, and since the native resolution of each mode is higher than in the original game, the image quality is very satisfying. Our only complaints are the noticeable pop-in compared to what we see on PC, for example, and the use of SSR for some reflections (ray tracing only handles them on transparent glass surfaces as far a&s we can tell).
