there's actually 12 minutes of gameplay here.

It doesn't seem so bad, it's got much more foliage than most last gen games for sure.

you are kinda right, the game is unexpectedly somewhat decent modeling wise, especially on monster designs that was never vigil games forté, the art to 3d, but the combat is So so bland ... maybe this is supposed to come out on smatphones i dunno.

It's obvious from the footage that some stuff is placeholder. One example would be around 2:30 she runs backwards a little bit, and it just looks like her normal walk cycle, just reversed. So i'm expecting them to tighten some stuff up as compared to this video. But yeah, the whips look insanely weedy. Never really liked whips as weapons to begin with, and this doesn't look to change that much :)

But well, i guess mainly the combat just looks so simplistic here. It doesn't look particularly engaging.

I'd say awful even, but never was into Darksiders anyway. Neither character design, models nor animations are/were appealing enough for me to try it out. Hell, it looks like an improved version of WoW: http://www.gamersyde.com/pop_images_darksiders_iii... Not my thing...

Just watched this video, was hoping for a high quality version by Gamersyde if at all possible, but it never happened. And it probably won't. This has been a very commented topic in gaming sites and forums by both gaming press people and players, games are being shown way too early. Too much early than they ever should be showed. This applies perfectly to this situation.

I really don't give a shit what those "Pre-Alpha", "Alpha", "Beta" or "Not Representative of Final Product" state, a game being shown in a very early and bad state is never the right way to show your game for the first time. This video has so many goddamn wrong things with it that even after a bad CG trailer, way worse than the average CG trailers we get nowadays, this still feels like a very shitty PS2 game.

Even Final Fantasy 12 and Persona 4 look way better than this shit at the moment. This has pissed me off so much and I don't even care about Darksiders. It's like they put the least amount of thought and effort into this game, from development to marketing. I know this is just "Pre-Alpha Gameplay", but someone of everyone just didn't give a flying fuck if this was ever going to make a good impression. And it doesn't, it really doesn't. Feels like they just sent this game to die.

In a period were we got so many great games, so many great looking games, games with great design, gameplay, systems, physics, story and so much more, this feels completely dated. I had to stop watching this shit before even reaching 4 minutes, it's like watching gameplay of really bad PS2 games. It's a complete waste of time.

The game looks dated, but most importantly, it looks very generic and bland from an art-style point of view, the characters look generic and bland as well, same for combat and traversal. The momemt I saw her going through that vent, it reminded me of how much better Batman: Arkham Asylum - a game from 2009 - did it and it didn't felt unnatural. Here it immediately made me think of how wrong it is that a being of so immense power and pride, as it is shown when she talks and makes fun of War in the CG trailer, is dragging herself down to crawl through a tunnel - feels like the same shitty stealth rat sections in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Which makes for a very contradictory situation and any immersion I had at that point immediately disappeared.

This game feels completely dated, like the developers and the marketing team are stuck in old game design and marketing philosophies and are oblivious to all the advancements in both areas. I know it's "Pre-Alpha", but that's the point, it gives a very fucking bad impression of the game. Specially after 4 months of incredible games coming out non-stop. I have seen videos of cancelled games that looked better than this. Whatever state the development is in, this video made think this game is going to be really shit even when it's done. And any hope I had the game would be good is now gone, which is a shame. The game may end up being great, but this video should never have been released with the game in this state.

nostradamus first thing i did for the "no music" The Witness was give a middle finger to Blow, and use MP3 or youtube to stream so classic composers, and give the dull game world (every one is dead how original) (14 Hours ago)

  • nostradamus

nostradamus and its funny as hell how thsi game has some organ/gregorian chorus (picks up in the key moments) for the soundtrack. it's sublime (these are the dudes who made sesious sam?! L.o.l.) (14 Hours ago)

nostradamus the dev's walking sim "now you get it" to appreciate a good puzzle. Still love The Witness, but i like direct simplicity more. (14 Hours ago)

nostradamus it even has the whole Tetronimo thingy going on. its way more barebones (mixture of its own game or a mod even) but its a breath of fresh air to take a puzzle game that doesn't make you suffer through (14 Hours ago)
