Here is a gameplay video of The Crew 2 filmed at Ubisoft's booth, showing three types of vehicles : car, boat and plane.
Melmoth @Sdarts: I vaguely remember that game from back then. Never played it. (5 Days ago)
Sdarts I loved this game, you can play with different characters, each with their own abilities. You had a dash, that was basically like flying - Really cool mechanic. Squaresoft at its best. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts But got to a place where I couldn't progress further, because I didn't understand Japanese - before 2000, I wanna say. Really liked it and still remember it randomly sometimes. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts And then later their American versions. There was this Japanese game only released in Japan, I think it was from Squaresoft, the game was quite cool and I went very far in it. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts @nostradamus: Yes, PSX, N64 & Sega Saturn as well. Those days, I played a lot of imported games. I believe I played Final Fantasy 8 around 6 months before the US release. Tenchu 1 & 2 in Japanese. (1 Week ago)

But I did not play the first one since a long time (as I did not like the handling).
I'm liking the inclusion of boat racing(there's not enough boat racing games) but the car handling will make or break this game for me as it'll probably still be the main focus.
And as it kept happening over and over, it doesn't give a feeling that you're controlling a car or boat. Feels like toy cars and boats. That's just the impression I got. Also, not sure if it's just that plane model, but I felt the plane wasn't as fast as it should be, there wasn't a sense of speed.
If they just nail good "arcade" handling that'd be enough for me. There are shades of Midnight Club in those street races.
I also forgot to mention that I hope those transitions aren't a core feature. If I'm piloting a car, boat or plane, I want to it to stay that way till I finish the race. Specially since sometimes you might not be in the mood for playing the other vehicles and if you're forced to, it most likely will take you out of it. Hopefully they're just for the E3 demo or a few select racing events, like a triathlon of racing.
