Looking forward to this one a lot!!! finally real time combat in a FF game, turn based just is not my thing. I am gonna assume this one is going to be for 2016.
That part in the town looks rough though, aliasing and just looking a bit....well...ugly. It's clear it doesn't look like the footage from during Sony's E3 show in 2013. But overall it looks sweet. I DO hope they give us the option for the original voices.
Typical terrible english voice acting for a japanese game. Hopefully there's the Jap VO on disc. The car driving looks like it's on rails...which is a shame. Liking the giant monsters though. And the visuals look nice overall.

Final Fantasy has always been about turn based combat. That's THE WHOLE POINT OF IT. The battles are strategic, well paced, thoughtful.
From what has been described about this the combat requires you to mash the X button and nothing more. It sounds utterly brain dead, which at least will match the boy band character designs.

I had assumed the combat would be similar to Kingdom Hearts and i don't know man, i never considered that to be brain dead. I just want to be able to run up on baddies and attack and dodge whenever i want. Turn based just isn't fun for me at all. But wasn't this game at one point menu based combat?

Unfortunately, the market no longer has a demand for turn based / menu based combat. I grew up with the Final Fantasy series and loved the ATB system during the PS1 era but sadly it is now considered outdatted by most people. People don't want to strategise. They want to smash and destroy and conjure colourful spectacular magic.
But I must say you are wrong to call it brain-dead. The game is not simply a linear hack-and-slash game. It's an RPG. The whole point is role-play. You have customization. You have a fantasy world with towns and dungeons to explore. You have hundreds of NPCs to interact with. You have a grand story that takes ~50 hours to beat.
Also, remember, this game was originally a spin-off title called FFvs13 like FFType-0. It was never meant to be a proper numbered title. It was supposed to have a Kingdom Hearts inspired combat system. That's been changed to a Type-0 inspired hybrid. The game was never turn-based in the first place.
