Bigben a released the debut trailer of Outcast - Second Contact which shows the wild landscapes of planet Adelpha. The game is set to release in Q4 2017.
This is awesome. The original is one of my favourite games ever, and while the animation here doesn't seem to have changed much, the visuals look really good.

Me too. Glad I haven't played it in years. Looking forward to playing again with this version. Really hope this can sell reasonably well to justify a sequel. Then my dream would be for them to pair with a bigger studio to do a sequel justice. The original was a visual powerhouse when it released.

wouldn't really say that. It was clear it was a game tied to the tech it opted to use (voxels) and it used it really well. The viewing field was a bit limited, but the terrain felt organic as hell compared to the polygonal games. The sound (5.1 EAX) was amazing... that snow walking. The waster tech devised by one frenchie was mindblowing for its time, it still looks really good, even compared to bad looking water in games like Horizon: Zero Dawn, lol.
All in all, they did a effintastic job creating alien islands in a Stargate premise.

Yeah, it definitely seemed inspired by Stargate. And the sense of exploration was really great. Much better, in my opinion, than say the Mass Effect games...
I never palyed the first, is it an adventure game or more of a shooter? What was the appeal at the time? Story, freedom, graphics...
This could be interesting but also seems rather "meh" for someone (like me) who doesn't know exactly what we're talking about.

its a "open world" segmented in islands you traverse through stargates. You have an alien race you interact and ask question to try to know more about your quest main lines. I don't think there are really waypoints. You shoot or kill bad/friendly folk it changes the way poeple react or as available to interact.
The sense of wonder and alien world immersion was really unique for the time it came out. It has this timeless old but organic look to it, like seein' an old movie with SFX made with claymation or animatronics.

I want this even though his face looks a bit weird in this trailer. And the dude sleeps with a stiff arm. Lol

It helps that the music is ... without a fact ... the best OST of that year, if you like rapturous epics. Here, have it a go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHt96IQpWYs
