We weren't totally satisfied with the quality of our video of DriveClub yesterday, so we decided to get new footage today on the showfloor. We got two new videos, with the first being available right now. Update: Second video is up.
Yikes, that gameplay looks awful. Looks way too much like a need for speed game and nearly enough like a pgr game. Now I see why this thing is gonna be free : /
it's crazy how much more polished this looks compared to E3 now. it's motorstorm all over again, add in some of those nice touches from the trailers, like depth of field and it'll be great. the more i see the more i like the look of it. and if the free version is decent, i'll be picking it up on disc. PGR in the countryside.

It looks nice'ish, and its fast, but it looks like you'll be bouncing around everywhere until you get those drifts sorted. I dunno why you keep comparing it to PGR.. it looks like it has more in common with Ridge racer.
Yeah that is the best game to compare it to is ridge racer, even more than need for speed. This game just looks so shallow in the gameplay department. Motor storm had enough tricks to overcome its poor gameplay, this on the other hand just looks like a budget title with a little extra graphics polish. I'm very disappointed so far : (

someone who'd been hands on said this has the heaviest feeling physics model and was difficult to master, said it was the pefect balance of arcade and sim (like PGR). that forza was the most accessible but the better performing, and that GT actually felt the best to drive thanks to it's physics and visual improvements. how you can say my PGR comparison is weird and then throw ridge racer into the mix is beyond me.

When it's Drive Club, it's apparently indicating gameplay. No one is bad at racers. Especially at trade shows. This game is basically Ridge Racer crossed with pinball.

Look at the way the car moves when taking corners, the pivot motion. It looks even lighter than a NFS game. The ridge racer example might be a bit much lol but the point is this reminds me nothing of pgr which is what I was really hoping for. Obviously a poor player can make things harder to judge but saying this looks really good?

I don't need to. I've played a ton of Ridge Racer. No it doesn't.
The gfx are awesome, the handling of the car is something that comes out of my driving games nightmares. Won't even mention how the in-car horrid wheel turn looks, a boat sim looks more authentic.

I think it's a bit early to tell, and more importantly perhaps, the person playing it in these videos makes it impossible to gain any real impression of the gameplay.
And I think people should really go play Ridge Racer. Because it's great. And it looks absolutely nothing like this.
And no, a NFS comparison isn't nearly as ridiculous. You might as well have started off by comparing it to Pac-Man instead of Ridge Racer. I mean, have you seen how Pac-Man corners?
The turning, over sliding is where the RR comparison came from (I am guessing) that is how I took it, thus I agreed to sliding had a RR feel to it. It's not a true copy (he never said it was to be fair) but that still remains that this game looks nothing like the pgr game many have been comparing it to thus far.
It is further from Ridge Racer. A lot. The drifting seen here (barely seen here, he mostly just drives into the guard rails) looks nothing like Ridge Racer, where you can practically drift instantly and at full speed around corners. This looks.. well.. nothing at all like that. However.. I do wish there was a new Ridge Racer game instead.
