Video Xbox One

Ryse: Sons of Rome is playable at Microsoft's booth, and here is a video of the Arena mode, sadly with a not so great quality.

You would think they would have put some of the "linearness" rumors of the game to rest. They should have showed a more epic piece from the campaign being played like they do with a GOW reveal.

i can't believe they've managed to take a theme such as this, and make it look incredibly boring. only crytek could accomplish such a thing.

So how was it to play?

I really don't like those choppy animations and clipping. Looks like it needs a good few months of polish yet

Want to see more of it.

Graphics look really nice. Cry engine 3 needs to be used more.

Somehow they've managed to make this game look even less appealing

Atleast Crysis games had something going for it, this one, nothing.

IGN has a hands on, the really liked it.
After a hands-on with the latest build on the eve of Gamescom, however, I have good news: there's no need to worry about Ryse: Son of Rome. The combat has plenty of depth, and the AI is aggressive enough that you'll be challenged plenty. Oh, and QTEs are merely optional finishing moves, with the giant button prompt over a foe's head replaced by a subtle colored outline around the not-long-for-this-world bad guy that corresponds to the button you're supposed to press in order to nail the best execution.

I see the usuals in here doing what they do. I cant believe the visual polish on this game. Best next gen visuals bar none. Really hoping for an immersive story and it will be a great showpiece for the system.

I don't really see anything special here. Visuals are not bad, not spectacular. Animations are subpar and standard, nothing evolved there. Gameplay looks average.
I look forward to some high quality gameplay running on an actual Xbox someday. I'll better judge things then.
