GSY Video PC Xbox One

More direct feed footage with Sea of Thieves in its PC version. This time Miguel had to use Microsoft's equipment, hence the 30 fps instead of 60.

Like what?

I mean, two people have actually met and destroyed ships with each other.

Rare have also been incredibly transparent with the fact that a lot of other things they are working on aren't ready to be shown just as yet, so I imagine that this is the most complete gameplay loop of SoT at this moment.

Well see, i don't so much care about what has been promised and delivered so much as the concept of these sort of all encompassing open world exploration type games. But then i've never liked Minecraft or The Sims either.

Unless i'm just totally missing the point of what this game is.

Well, the official line from Rare is "pirate fun", like a shared world. But in terms of concrete gameplay, this is all that has been played.

It's apparently closer to the shared world nature of Destiny in terms of what you can do, so I guess use Vanilla Destiny as a jump-off and just switch Guardians with pirates?

Until they show it though, why would you take their word for it?

I think thats ultimately why i'm happy with NMS. I disconnected what i was being shown and what they where trying to sell. I mean. Mute the ign footage from april and its identical to what we're playing. Listen to what the dev is saying and its a bunch of PR, and since when did anyone listen to that?

This feels the same. If there is more to the game, why arent they showing it? If it's like destiny, why does it appear as aimless as no mans sky?

The key difference being Rare haven't dealt with definitives? They have expressed what they want to do and then *disclaimer* it's not ready.

The thing is, what this has over NMS if we're strictly speaking about "aimlessness" is the fun-factor. Multiplayer already adds more depth than NMS, multiplayer/co-op is what bridged the gap between Vanilla Destiny and when it eventually got its 1st massive update.

So is it the same feeling as NMS? Fuck no. NMS doesn't have footage upon footage of people at tradeshows having fun before its release.

I don't expect you to understand though because playing with other people is irrelevant to you.

I have to disagree with that. I don't see it as "aimless" at all. Interaction with others in the world is common in SoT...in NMS you dont see anyone... its just you. At least here you can go on quests as a team and explore together...or take off by yourself. That's what NMS's devs was so coy about...SoT is multplayer in a shared world...NMS is single player in a shared world...

And yet equally aimless in your menial tasks and objectives...until they show something to proove otherwise of course. A menial task is a menial task whether you're with people or not. Washing the dishes doesn't get +10 fun points just because you have someone there to help you dry. Lol.

Given what we have been shown of this you can't shit on the notion of resource gathering and crafting in no mans sky and then get all moist over the idea of virtual drinking and "playing" (i use the term loosely, its automated) instruments. Lol

Let's have a bet:

If SoT upon release is just ship battling, I have to get Drift to change my username to RAREBear.

If it isn't, then we get Drift to change your username to SONYsdog.

Sound fair?

Hmmm...that's kind of selective logic wouldn't you say. The mere fact that you couldn't set sail in a ship that size in SoT by yourself means that teamwork is a priority in certain situations. Who patches the damage if you're managing the cannons in a ship that size? We are talking about survival here and the success of your crew/ship...not washing the dishes which does nothing for your progress or reputation. I like the fact that you have options in SoT where as in NMS you are forced to play it alone even though the world is shared. Co-op with your buddies has a strong emphasis placed on it which makes the experience vastly different then what you find in NMS.

Understand that NMS's devs simply avoided topics purposefully... that's totally different from Rare who is simply waiting to reveal things for marketing purposes.

You... You weren't called GoldenEyeFan007 at one point... were you?

I mean if SoT is nothing but this 15 minute demo rolled over again and again and again with no gun/sword combat, exploring, finding treasure chests, sea creatures etc, I'll gladly take the name RAREbear as I would have been a fool to think that Rare could deliver something other than ship-battles masquerading as a pirate-game.

Mostly it's just to stop KORN repeating the same shit ad infinitum, so I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, if he accepts of course.

Hell, I'll even take GoldenEyeFan007.

Sure. Especially since the standards for content here seem to be pretty low. What's "exploring"? Basically anything that involves moving around a map? Yeah. I think you'll get that. This is Rareware. It's 2016. Better get hyped over the nothing they've shown us so far :P

And no. I've always been GoldenEyeHater007.

Exploring was just a shorthand of way of saying "doing some shit".

For now, I'll wait. I like the different tasks everyone has on the ship and for the time being I'll only speak of what has been shown, and from what has been shown, this slice of gameplay, it looks great. Good that your ship's survival depends ultimately on who is doing what and doing it correctly.

I've seen a lot on stream from Gamescom from ships dropping anchor to do "handbrake" turns, to people playing ride of the Valkyries as a band as the ship goes down, some people drinking on the job and stumbling drunk in the face of plugging holes in the ship, some crashing dead into rocks because their teammate was shit at giving directions to the man at the wheel. Just good fun.

What they've spoken about in interviews and at Expo's sounds interesting, but I'll get more excited when I actually see it. For now though? This is definitely on my radar.

seems too swayed in your favour. i mean, they could add some bullshit like picking and handing out flowers to your virtual friends and technically you'd win.

So deep down you actually believe there will be more to this than what has been shown?

I say take the bet, you'll probably win anyway! Rare are soo incompetent nowadays.

they are very incompetent.

but my argument was that the tasks are menial, not there there wasn't any. i mean, landing at a beach to then pick up a chest and carry it back to the ship is menial. playing an automated instrument while doing it doesn't really change anything... it's busy work. no more engaging then firing a beam at a rock to get resources. if there is a story, or full fledged missions with complex objectives then i guess i was wrong. but so far it looks like a bunch or random bullshit to fanny around doing for 5 minutes? if it isn't that...then sure, change my username.
