It's just a few days from the beginning of Halo Reach's multiplayer beta that Bungie released this vidoc explaining what it all will be about, and as usual with them it's a quite well done video.
Honestly regardless of comments about graphics and whatever else.... if it's not totally obvious why people are obsessed with this game's multiplayer, I don't know what else to say.... it takes me back to the old days. There will be much trash talk with my buddies. Oh yes. The haters can go sit in a corner and furiously type on their keyboards. I'm going to have some fun.

Anyway... i watched the HD version of this just now on the 360..gotta say it looks awesome..very clean, and the blur effect really suits it. The new take downs look great too..as do the jetpacks. I'm almost tempted to pick up ODST on the cheap now

I really don't know why but Multiplayerwise halo just didn't catch me like MW2 ... i'm not comparing ... i bought every halo and caal of duty but after a while the multiplayer just got me bored ... This Reach will be amazing ... no doubt ... but i really hope they've got some nice graphics to go with the hopefully outstanding campaign and the enormous multiplayer will be a blast but for how long ? I'm not doing the Beta so ... wait wait wait and look at all the upcoming viddoc's ...

Excellent gameplay, the competitive nature of the MP, lots of friends playing it. That were all the reasons why I kept playing it, apart from MW1 every COD has been missing something and I couldn't play it longer than 1-2 months.
To get their shit together, everyone's totally destroying with the DMR 'cause it's hilarious and fun, to go back and kind or re-invision some of the old friends and I'm about to rain death on the plebeians that I work with. Cause it's like that Sentinel Beam from Halo 2, trying to figure out what's that perfect balance in how the game functions moving around. Sword Base is a completely different scenario all of the multiplayer maps within the campaign and all these fictional elements there's a lot of tension as you're amassing skulls and your goal is to grab a flag, take it to your goal and try to build that space where we can sort of say, like, our matchmaking system's really good, I'll sing. Some of it's obnoxious I'll get muted so I can hook up with them with a minimum of fuss, without them feeling like it's two different experiences.

I know exactly why Halo 3 never caught me like MW did...
1)the matchmaking was terribly slow.. where as i could pretty much instantly find a game in MW, Halo 3 would often spend 5minutes searching..only for it to have to restart it's search. Simply not good enough.
2) the mic support is stupid..and unless you were in a party, killed a sense of community building for me.
3) the dlc removed my favourite mode, and subsequently favourite maps, from my game disc. I dont want to have to spend money on dlc just so i can keep matchmaking the Big team battle game mode. The game was sold to me as a 16player game!
When i did manage to get in a game, and not have it be a lagfest, it was awesome..but it was far too rare...and i can only offer something so much patience.
I really hope Reach will be better, have a much improved matchmaking system and net code. And i really hope they dont take away game modes like invasion that only support the max amount of players.

I found this particularly bad as well. It generally wasn't that big of an issue with the four on four matches, but the Big Team Battles took ages to fill up. The restarting of the search was particularly annoying when it had already found enough people.

Of course its old and flawed its like 5 years old lol. MW2 came out a few months ago, I agree though halo 3 netcode is terrible, but there is no reason why Reach wouldn't be vastly better.

My match times were never all that long, AND actual matchmaking (ie not MW2's "fast connections are all that really matter") takes longer, because you have more quality. There are also options that can give you a slower or faster match time. And if your trying to join a BT playlist, obviously that'll take a while with the number of players you have to find. It's not as simple as just "hey there's a guy within 20 levels of you, lets bring him in". It's pretty complicated, and not all that slow for what it does. Certainly could be faster, but it wasn't terribly slow except on a bad day.

What do you mean by "more quality." To be completely honest, I experienced more lag in Halo 3's 4v4 matches than MW2's with more players.
