GSY Video Xbox One PC

Although Microsoft had sent us an early copy of Halo Wars 2, we weren't able to play the game before launch, which is why we can only share some gameplay footage now. Inside, you'll find some 1440p videos recorded on PC. Enjoy!

Don't think I'll ever understand the appeal of RTS games.

The whole genre leaves me cold, feeling completely disconnected from what I see happening on screen.

The experience just feels like a random number generator playing out TBH.

You never played with toy soldiers as a kid? Being that age in front of an RTS gave me a similar feeling but with an unlimited number and different kinds of toys.

The campy story of Red Alert with Stalin, Hitler and Einstein was great too. Cutscenes in general was great. And it even had for it's time very cool cutscenes for when you failed a mission.

Then the Total War games came and added several revolutionary features to the genre with it's 3d environments, world map, diplomacy, assassinations, trading etc. Now I could try out military strategies I'd seen in Braveheart and Gladiator (hiding the cavalry in a forest area to flank the enemy with, hiding the cavalry behind a hill flanking the enemy). Again cutscenes were great and played during assassinations (both for failed and successful attempts), when you failed an entire campaign (your Shogun had to commit seppuku etc. With Total War it doesn't hurt if you are interested in history as well.

I rarely play RTS games anymore though but been meaning to jump back into the Total War series.

This is a nice looking game. I've never been able to get into RTS games though. I get bored very quickly. The only seudo-RTS type of game I've ever liked was Herzog Zwei on the Sega Genesis, and now I play the spiritual successor (Airmech). I remember my and my friend having 7 hour long Herzog sessions. What a great game of tug-of-war that game was. The reason i don't get bored of them is probably that I get to directly interact with the unit, enemies and environment rather than just click click click and watch it play out. I actually get to provide input and tip the scales with direct intervention, plus it's more fun that way.

Eh, I feel that way myself, but try first Red Alert. Seeing comically evil Stalin ordering you to murder civilians and then actually doing it in the piss easy mission might be just the thing. Hell March rullez btw.

Wait. You did 2160p videos for Horizon Dino Bots that you said were upscaled? Why don't you have 2160p Xbox One S videos for this title?

1. Because what the PS4 Pro does is not upscaling and cannot be compared to what Xbox One S does. Don't worry, there wil be plenty of fake 4k vids when the Scorpio ships.

2. Because Cprbe does not own a 4k capture card and we don't want him to spend his own personal money.

3. Not because we are Sony fanboys and only want the PS4 to shine here. Sorry to nip your conspiracy theory in the bud.

MrWhite the other amazing thing in that video is the use of the node tools that can just be plugged whilst in VR. You can imagine devs in the future building games in VR instead of on a monitor. (1 Day ago)

MrWhite Yeah, you'd have thought Valve would have put that in there. eye tracking with those controllers would have made it a true next gen headset. (1 Day ago)
