Trailer PS5 PC PS4

Developed by Ember Lab, a studio that started in animation with various commercials and animated shorts inside its portfolio, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a story-driven adventure game that shined yesterday during the PS5 livestream event. Besides its beautiful artistic design, the game offers the story of Kena, a spirit guide struggling to find a sacred mountain shrine while uncovering the secrets of the forgotten community from this large forest. The game will be out Holiday 2020 for PS5, PS4 and PC (EGS).

this title seemed to have stood out for many gamers. a very interesting showcase. the transition from CG to in-game content is so very close. no clue if this was using Unreal engine 4 or an in-house engine. either way i'm looking forward to seeing more from this game.

Yeah, this one stood out for me, too. It gives off Beyond Good and Evil vibes. And it looks great, only framerate seems a bit weird (1:18).

I loved this game from the first minute, looks so cute and very similar to a Pixar CG movie. Which isn't strange given that the studio behind it is Ember Lab, they specialize in animation shorts and are the ones responsible for the excellent Majora's Mask - Terrible Fate CG animation short.

I sent them a tweet asking if they could clarify if the cinematics are pre-rendered or real time. Don't necessarily expect a response, but I dunno. It kinda LOOKS CG but there are also from time to time some realtime faults that you wouldn't see in pre-rendered CG. Mainly the DOF cutoff having a bit of an outline or a tiny bit of artifacting around certain elements like hair. Some of that is visible in the cinematics. And I mean, Naughty Dog has shown us with CURRENT gen how good a realtime cinematic can look. I'm confident PS5/Series X is capable of producing this level of cinematics in realtime. Also, the in-game models and whatnot don't really look much, if any less detailed than the models seen in the cinematics. But I'll post back if they every respond to me.

I’m a huge sucker for great landscapes and action RPG. I hope this one sells because I’ve always loved this kind of exploration games!

Although… I am a PC gamer. If it turns out to be exclusive to PlayStation then I’m going to have to wait for reviews. If it’s great, then I guess I’ll be a console gamer...
