Video Xbox 360 PS3

I ran into some problems - still unsolved by the way - with the PC I use to capture the videos so I couldn't be any faster to put this video of the demo of Fifa 10 online. The first thing that you probably noticed when launching the demo is how smooth all the animations are. There have been some nice additions in that area since last year and they really make the game more realistic. Don't blame me for not playing very well though, I haven't really had time to master the game just yet. I will add a second video later this morning.
Update: Second video is now up with some Messi action.

Where the hell is the demo!? I can't find it on Live, and my PS3 is currently in a box, too damn lazy to hook it up.

Probably going to give it to a cousin and get a slim anyway.

The demo shows off what an amazing game this is. Probably the best football - or soccer, don't want to piss anyone off - game made up to this point.

I played the demo (heard you need to be a gold member) and man it's amazing. More similarites to 09 than 09 to 08 but like driftwood said, it's flows so amazingly well I've never played a football game so smooth it plays magnificently. I still need to get used to the shooting as even on semi assisted (my usual setting) I can't get as much on target. But all in all this feels so much better, I can't even begin to describe how the 360 dribbling effects gameplay on both the offense and defense, it may sound insignificant but I can assure you it changes the games a hell of amount for the better.

Finally graphically, sure it isn't a huge step from 09 but you can't really expect them to constantly make huge leaps and bounds with each annual release but fifa 10 is still a very pretty game with some excellent animation. I'll defo be picking this up. Also if you do try it, play more than one match, the altered shooting and the new dribbling takes a little while to enjoy and get used to.

i wasnt impressed - and i know i'm gonna get flammed for being in the minority. I just thought it wasnt that big an improvement over 09. It moves slightly smoother with the 360 dribbling.. but not enough to suddenly make 09 unplayable. The difference it made to the game i thought was welcome but small.. and if i was new to the series i doubt i'd pay much attention to notice it beyond the given expectation that "sequals" are always alittle smoother than the game before it.
The recycled menu system ripped straight from O9 struck me as lazy. The graphics on a whole (after playing them side by side) actually look slightly worse than 09 due to them simply adding more blur to the overall look of 10. The engine still carrys the same limitations - you'll still notice the same drop in frames from when it moves from the practice pitch to the stadium. As well as during some of the replays.

Theres definatly not a new games worth of difference here in my eyes. I see no reason why it couldnt of been a £12 dlc expansion rather than a £50 retail game - fair and true.

I look forward to seeing what PES offers this year.. which also has 360 control i believe now?

You can only play in the pro difficulty setting in the demo.

As for the stadium, I thought there was only one as it seems it's the only one I got when playing.

Okay, I played it yesterday and I'm quite impressed.

All the 09 problems have disappeared, good work from the developer team
The 360° dribble add a lot of deepness to the gameplay.

PES have to be really wonderful, or this year I'll again take FIFA

- I tried playing FIFA 09 after the FIFA 10 demo... simply couldn't do it. The shots are too floaty, dribbling is too sluggish, the graphics aren't as detailed, the gameplay isn't as fluid and the pace now feels almost arcadey. All of that as a result of playing the FIFA 10 demo for no more than a couple of hours. If you don't think there's much difference between the two games, try going back to FIFA 09. You'd find it difficult to do so. The menu isn't that different to 09, but it's not identical. In fact, it's noticeably different because you no longer have that annoying unresponsiveness when navigating the menus - you got that in 09, and it really bugged me. Framerate is still an issue though; not so much in the replays for me, but the framerate when the game is loading the stadium as you're in the arena is really bad.

- Fair enough, you don't think it warrants a full-price purchase - although who the heck plays £50 for a game? I'm only paying £30-35 for it. But honestly, what did you expect? The flaws from 09 have been ironed out, with some nice innovations thrown in for the full-game - not to mention all the great, refined game modes. I'm not really sure what you were expecting, because it was quite clear from the off that FIFA 10 would be all about refinement.

- The graphics look worse than 09? Oh, come on. Now you're just embarassing yourself. That "blur" you're referring to is called depth of field, and is visible on the crowd, background and players who aren't in the camera's focus. It's not hard to figure out.

- I'm not saying you should buy FIFA 10, and I'm not asking you to change your opinion. Heck, I still acknowledge that FIFA 10 has its own share of problems - there's way too much curl on the ball now as opposed to it floating, while I've encountered numerous glitches/bugs (although these should be ironed out by release). Also, I'm actually quite excited for PES 2010 after seeing a 'Press Preview' code video of the game, and it's looking very promising - although I'll need to play the demo to make up my mind. But the fact that you can't notice the difference between FIFA 09 and FIFA 10 is just... well, it's just ignorance.

Oh, and PES 2010 does have 360 dribbling as well.

This > all other football games.

I played the demo for 8 hours non stop yesterday without even realizing it. I'm still getting to grips with the new controls, but the difference in this to 09 is night and day. I'm seeing new things each and everytime I play it, and yesterday I cracked a shot from outside the area, and one of my players ran and ducked out of the way of it as it sailed into the top corner. That blew me away. Few minor quibbles with it at the moment, but nothing that I'm sure can't and won't be ironed out before it's release. In fact my main gripe with the demo is that games are far, far too short to get into. Doesn't matter what PES does this year. Nothing is touching this masterpiece.

@Blmbox, dude last week you loved fifa 09. Last week the gameplay and graphics were fine.

I've already said in the post you replied to that i've gone back to 09. And after playing them side by side i think 09 looks the sharper. You dont get depth of field from looking straight down on the players during gameplay, or on close up shots of their faces - which is what i'm refering to when i say theres more blur to the overall look.. not simply the blur of the static pixil crowd in the background. And i said this to you yesterday.. so why you're going on about depth of field i dont know.

My opinion on it i believe is fair. I've noted the differences and the simularities in the post you replied to. My opinions not born out of ignorance because i've actually played the demo, and i own 09. And theres not enough there to warrent ME to purchase a game that I see very little difference in, and firmly believe they could of easily released as dlc for less than half the price.

Which is why, as you know, i'd like to see EA adopt what Activision has with COD and have two teams spending development cycles of 2yrs, offering us our annual fifa's. Then maybe I personally will see more improvements to the game that actually make the asking price worth the purchase.

I think Fifa 09 was fine for blmbox, and for me, last week, and even two days ago. But it's not now having played this. I don't think I'll ever pick up a pad to play 09 again. I can't. The more I play this demo, the more I get used to the style of the game, and the more that happens, the more the game opens up and shows just how polished it really is. I love the time you get on the ball, and even when surrounded, you can remain composed when in control of the likes of Iniesta because his control is so tight. Playing with Barca's midfield is an absolute joy.

I too played the demo, I saw dingleberry's post and downloaded it. Thanks for the post. I have played FIFA09 for a year now and I'm baffled about the small detail, players ducking and avoiding the ball. Keepers making small mistakes which lead to goals. I saw the fast freekick just now and it was amazing. But it's a bit laggy with the ingame flashback and cut scenes, but it's a demo. Best DEMO I've played yet.

ps. became a member just now to post finally something, love this forum!

I loved the demo too and thought it was miles above 09. Everything has so much more zip now and it flows well and the players react much more quickly. Crosses and lofted balls especially are so satisfying now (even though they do indeed curl a tad too much) and gone are the helium-ball shots.

The front-end is also much faster now (I hated the sluggish menus in 09) and a match loads almost immediately. Big thumbs up to EA for basically addressing everything that was wrong about 09 gameplay-wise.

That said: I couldn't imagine any official event in which Bayern would play Juventus at Wembley at broad daylight. I hope they fixed that too, that CL matches take place during the day, and I hope we get a few more weather effects (rain, snow) in Master League as well this time.

I think that's strictly because it's the demo; you won't see Bayern playing Juventus at Wembley in the full game, unless you choose to. EA has addressed the realism of Manager Mode though so that all CL matches will take place at night, and there will be realistic and varying weather effects - for example, many Premier League games will take place in rainy conditions.

It's good that they've addressed Manager Mode really, because it's a mode that I personally play a lot.

Ah, ok, I wasn't sure whether this was from the demo as her in Germany they have a different stadium in it. And yes, let's hope they did something about the schedules and the seasons in MM (which I accidentally called 'Master League' – old PESser showing ;), because last year it was a mess.

You don't judge difference with your eyes. Spend half an hour with the demo on a high difficulty, playing with the new crossing and shooting systems on manual controls. This is perfect. The difference between FIFAs 09 and 10 is much, much bigger than between any two successive iterations of PES since the PS1/PS2 transition.

You can only play in the pro difficulty setting in the demo.
When you load up the demo and it asks you your experience with FIFA, there are three options, which will set your difficulty to either amateur, pro or world class depending on which you choose. Annoyingly though, it then locks it, so you can't change your difficulty without quitting the demo.

Just to summarise why this is better in the space of five seconds, here's a replay I took:

http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/media/play/video...

I didn't score, but the dribbling, the cross, the shot, the keeper reflexes and the defensive recovery are all way beyond what was possible in 09. That's against the AI on world class. And yes, gone are the helium shots, as demonstrated here:

http://www.easportsfootball.co.uk/media/play/video...

My bad then. But it explains why I have had much more difficulties to win since I started choosing world class at the launch of the demo. :D

It's odd they locked it once in the game though. Thanks for the info, I really did not realize.
