GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

We were only sent our copy of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 yesterday, so we haven't been able to play much yet. One reason is that the build we used to capture the prologue was quite buggy, with headless enemies or invisible ones. thankfully, the game received a massive update yesterday evening and it fixed the problem. We'll have more videos of the patched version as soon as possible, but for now, you should know that the game remains quite demanding. Despite our GTX 1080 and a 1080p resolution, we have witnessed frame drops when it starts to rain. At 1440p framerate takes a hit more regularly, even indoor when many effects kick in. Most of our time playing has been smooth when not going above 1080p. As for the game itself, it seems a lot more solid than its predecessors, though it's too soon to say if it's fully satisfying.

You can, and it seems to be smooth provided you don't go beyond 1080p and it doesn't rain. ^^

@driftwood
But I play in 1440p :( Thank god I have zero interest in this game. But still it's crazy that you need an 800 eur 1080ti to get this to run @60 fps in 1440p, to me it doesn't look that good.

It's all about optimization. Cry Engine is known for those issues when Crytek is not developping. Homefront 2 also ran terribly when it came out and it got better with updates in the end. I do belive Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 needed some more development time.

How are the loading times on PC with a SSD?

I'm asking because EuroGamer has an article (link below) that shows that on PS4, the loading times are almost 5 minutes - ~4:40 - everytime you load a region, so if you fast travel from one of the 4 regions to another, that's how much you gotta wait.

EuroGamer - Watch: Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 takes 5 minutes to load. Here's what you can do in that time.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-04-24-watch...

To be fair, the developers did say that this was done in order to reduce load times during mission, like when you die and gets respawned, fast travel inside the region and restart the mission.

Depending on how much you end up doing these 3 things, it would be worse if you had to wait too much while playing instead of waiting before playing - which you can go do something and just come back after it's done.

Not sure if you will want to time it, but I'm definitely curious how long it takes to load on PC, specially with a SSD. Either way, thanks for the videos and the info about the poor optimization.

CryEngine in the hands of somebody that is not Crytek just sucks. I can't name a game made with cryengine that didn't have problems (or even that was nice). Ah wait....Rolling Sun, yeah that's pretty much the only one. Ran flawlessy and was a nice little game. The rest was crap (not that crysis 2 and 3 were that nice...). I hope Kingdom come: deliverance will not fail like the others.

It seems to be around 45 seconds the first time you load the game (SSD). Much shorter, but still very long for a PC game.

Thank you so much for taking the time to time it and replying. AQnd yes, it seems like a lot indeed, but right now I'm playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and the time it takes to load a mission is very long.

In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the cutscenes are unskipabble, unfortunately. So they also account for the loading times' duration. So for example, in the 3rd mission - Traffic, the loading time was 1:58. From clicking the Resume option - when the mission starts loading, the cutscene's duration is 1:34, while after the cutscene ends and the level resumes loading is 24 seconds. And this is with a SSD.

There's 2 options to reduce loading times, but one can result in hitches during cutscenes and the other can result in hitches during gameplay, so I just leave then off so that both cutscenes and gameplay work as smoothly as possible.

But what is really annoying is the fact that no matter where on the mission you are, progress-wise, the initial cutscene always loads, so even if one could cut the extra 24 seconds of loading after the cutscene ends, you're still looking at 1:34 of loading time. And this is only this mission, in other missions the cutscenes will be longer or shorter. But even in this mission, the loading time could be 24 seconds instead of 1:58 if you could skip the cutscene.

So Sniper: Ghost Warrior's 45 seconds loading times on PC with SSD are very short imho. I just wish developers did something extremely easy to implement in games, either give the option to skip cutscenes from the start or just program a single "True or False" boolean statement - keep the skip function disabled and hidden and if player_watch_already = true enable and show skip function, if false do nothing. This last part would come in case the developers want people to watch cutscenes at least once.

It's stupidly simple, yet most developers don't do either of those. So we the players just gotta go do something else while levels load, which isn't all bad since you can use borderless fullscreen mode and just Alt-Tab and check e-mails, read a news article, check your phone, drink a glass of water, etc.

Still, it takes away from the game since you stop and go do something else entirely unrelated to the game. Thankfully, Black Ops 3 which was released later had skippable cutscenes from the start and it took around 20 seconds to load a mission if I'm not remembering incorrectly.
