The reason why we picked Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom as our first HDR coverage of the week is simple, ever since the game was released in March 2018, it has been impossible to make HDR work on NVIDIA cards. Yes, no official patch has been proposed for 2 years, but thankfully the PC gaming world is full of computer geeks capable of fixing just about anything the devs won't, as with Durante and his 60 fps Dark Souls mod for example. An unofficial patch is then available for Ni no Kuni II and it can even be foundon the game's page at pcgamingwiki. Stay tuned for more HDR coverage tomorrow, with another PC game.

Commented on 2020-04-13 13:41:35That's what makes the PC the best platform, because anyone can be a sort of developer and provide a fix, patch or workaround, as well as the mods, trainers, and enhancements that allow people to make the game the best experience for them, instead of being strictly tied to the game's developers vision and design.
If something is too grindy or completely unreasonable, use a trainer and save your time. We have limited time on this world and after we pay for a game, we should always decide how we want to play, instead of playing like the developers want us to play. Which a lot of times involves wasting the player's time for absolutely no reason other than to extend the length of the game.
As for the Nvidia HDR, I didn't know about it. I have a Nvidia GPU and a brand new 4K HDR TV, when using the Windows 10 HDR options and after a ton of reading forums and tweaking with various softwares, everything - including games - was correctly displayed. For example, I played Gears of War 5 - Windows Store version - in HDR back in January.
The only issue I encountered with Nvidia was that because of the way the Nvidia Control Panel works with resolutions, I had to download a free software that allows you to create custom resolutions from the ground up and when you add the same resolutions from it, it eliminates a lot of issues that you get with only using Nvidia's Control Panel. But that's whas all.
Not doubting you, just that I didn't experience any issues with Nvidia other than the one above. However, from the emulation community, there's plenty of unresolved issues that Nvidia didn't fix untill years later and a few that are still unresolved. Thankfully, for most of them the community created fixes or found workarounds. Gotta love the PC community.
