Disney Illusion Island has been available on Nintendo Switch for a few days now, but since it's summertime and the website's activity has logically slowed down, we are a little behind on its coverage. The reception of the game has been a bit mixed in the press (especially here in France for some reason), as the first part of the game is said to be rather dulling and boss fights also get quite repetitive (not to mention they're apparently too long for their own good). It is true that the platforming sequences of the beginning are noticeably easy the fairly significant emphasis on narration constantly interrupts gameplay at first, which is not that engaging to be honest. That said, it must be kept in mind that this Metroidvania is above all designed for children and that it can also be played up to four players, which is undeniably more fun. As a result, there is no doubt that children will be keener to forgive its flaws, even more so as the soundtrack and the character models (provided you like the art style) prove to be excellent. As for us, we would have appreciated more detailed environments as in the Rayman series. Last but not least, note that the game features all the official voice actors for each of the main characters.
