GSY Video PS4 Xbox One Switch PC Wii U

Released on Wii U back in 2013, LEGO City: Undercover is coming back on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in an updated version offering two player coop. Here are gameplay videos of the Switch version, including an FPS analysis.
Update: Added a cooperation FPS analysis video, still on the Switch. As the game keeps running in 1080p, the framerate takes a hit.

The game runs in 1080p30 on Nintendo's latest console while docked, and in 720p30 in portable mode, thus offering a very clear image. There are however some frame drops in dense areas, especially in portable mode, but the game remains quite playable. Note that the platform phases do not seem to undergo these drops.

Odd you'd see more performance issues when it's rendering in only 720p. What a POS that thing is.

^ Seriously? I was pointing out how bizarre that was. Give me a break.

A bit bizarre considering portable mode the console has half the GPU power than when docked (which should be enough), but it also has less memory bandwidth, so depending on how their engine works it could be the bottleneck here (a few optimisations can be done to avoid this).

But calling it pos ? That's still more power than the Wii U on a portable console (the most powerful one to date).

toelessfoot @MrWhite: I did notice a little banding in darkest spots but I really didn't have any issue with what I saw, granted I only watched a few parts. (1 Day ago)

b0vril Yea, scenes with poor visibility has been a persistent problem with the show. (1 Day ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite others are suggesting more cynical reasons, like promising better quality on blu ray to drive sales up. (1 Day ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite large chunks of detail were just blocky, and you couldn't see shit beyond the foreground layers. It's being blamed on streaming services, but I put it down to CGI masking by making it dark as possible (1 Day ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite I downloaded a full, uncompressed 1080p source of it, and when I adjusted the brightness on both PC and TV, there were massive bitrate artifacting. (1 Day ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite @toelessfoot: Its nothing to do with that. There have been complaints from a wide range of set ups and TV viewers. (1 Day ago)
