Video Wii U

The end of May will see the return of racing fun with the release of Mario Kart 8, but since we were sent an early copy of the game, you can enjoy some high quality videos made in Gamersyde starting today. Here are 20 minutes of gameplay footage showing 6 different tracks in 150cc class for the most part - only Sunshine Airport was captured in 50cc class. Enjoy!

Is it fun? Last one I played was on 64, and this doesn't look too different (which isn't really bad, the one on 64 was--and still is--fun).

Edit: I forgot the most important question? Is it 1080p and 60fps!?!??

Can't tell if serious... although it would be nice if 4 player split screen was 60fps. The 30fps in Wii version was kind of disappointing. Either way this series will always have the best local mp

It's certainly NOT. Very few games run at native 1080p.
Your TV reporting that it's getting a 1080p signal is not the same.
Upscaling from 720p to 1080p doesn't do shit. If the game is only running at a native 720p upscaling or not will not make a difference.

ZombiU for example is only 720p. Many say that it's 1080p, but that's wrong.

Looking at theses screens I'm unimpressed, but running this on an actual HDTV and seeing it in motion it will probably look great.

I know. My comment was sarcasm.
And I guess the question in the top comment wasn't serious as well. If you own a WiiU, you surely dont care about resolution and fps so much.

The game itself looks fun.

Youre gonna get the obsessive pixel counters all butthurt if you continue with your (well placed) sarcasm lol

I also havent owned or will ever choose to own a Nintendo console since the N64 but have to admit this version of Mario Kart looks a blast for a few hours at weekends with friends. If i did own a Wii U id grab this day one :)

Wasn't very clear though.
At least most games are native 720p on WiiU.
I still care about resolution. Makes a world of difference on it's own.
As long as it's native and I'm playing on an HDTV it's alright in 720p.
Even if I to some extent expected 1080p.

Mario Kart 8 is presented in 1080p at 60 frames per second (1-2 player local) and 30 fps (3-4 player local).

@ Gamersyde:

Why did you limit the maximum bitrate to 15 Mbps?

It's obviously not enough bitrate. There are a lot of compression artifacts.

720p60 needs more than 15 Mbps.

I think you need more bitrate. How do you like that?

It's possibile to have video upscaled in 1080p?
Like a a Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One fore exemple: videos here on gamersyde are in 1080p but the native resolution of the game is 720p.
Thanx for your job!

Davton can't capture at 1080p so he would have to go to Blim's. Don't hold your breath.

They also never use anti-aliasing on nintendo games. but no one is making a stink about it. You guys act like you never owned a nintedo or sega genesis back in the 80's! Oh wait your first systems were PS2 and XBOX..
