Boy, Nintendo couldn't have been lying more when they said that the Wii's going to make gaming more accessable. Guess their definition of revolutionizing gaming is bundling some quirky mini-games with the console and launching a family themed ad campaign.

I think that Nintendo is going this for for two reasons that are related to each other.
1. While this is a popular game among the casual gamers out there, this is a Nintendo game that enjoys a extremely hardcore following with a pretty active tournament scene around it. I am sure that the game will be set up so the casual gamer will never needs to touch any control options to get there share of enjoyment out of the game.
2. These features are decidedly hardcore, like you have noted. I think they are doing this to show the hardcore gamers out there that they still support them even though they are going after a new market of casual gamers. They could easily take out 90% of all of the new features they are adding and still please the casual gamers, just look at Excite Truck. This game is essentially a love letter to all those hardcore Nintendo fans that have felt left out.
What it comes right down to is, as long as the features they are adding doesn't get in the way of the fun it is a good thing.
I am going to use the GameCube controler or even the Wii classic controler, the Wiimote and nunchock is not the control for me its Just too Much.......
I used my $25 TRU gift card(from galaxy) and bought a classic controller, but now I'm thinking, I won't have rumble... I kind of hate the classic controller. A good Third-party gamecube controller(if that exist) is really the way to go.. but I'll be using it day 1 this game is out.
