Press release

PARIS – NOVEMBER 25, 2025 – Quantic Dream announces today the first Closed Beta Weekend of Spellcasters Chronicles, beginning on December 4 at 15:00 UTC and ending on December 8 at 09:00 UTC. This marks the first online opportunity for players from Europe and North America to experiment with the studio’s first-ever multiplayer team-based free to play game. The Closed Beta will take place on Steam, with access granted to players who register and are selected to join this first test phase.

Following a limited hands-on demo showcased at TwitchCon San Diego earlier this year, this Closed Beta introduces an expanded gameplay experience, including six playable Spellcasters, the Mausoleum arena, and access to a first selection of spells and creatures to experiment with the deck-building system. With 11 creatures, 8 spells, 2 buildings and 2 titans available during this initial phase, players will be able to craft and test unique strategies while exploring Spellcasters Chronicles’ core gameplay experience.

Each Spellcaster embodies a distinct archetype, defined by the way they interact with the deck-building system and reshape the flow of battle. These archetypes ensure that every deck composition feels meaningful, their passive strengths naturally guiding players towards certain spells, creatures, and building combinations, allowing each deck to express the identity of the chosen Spellcaster:

The Swamp Witch excels with swarm decks built on expendable summons and late-game scaling.
The Astral Monk thrives with burst-damage and offensive spells.
The Iron Sorcerer is ideal for structure-focused decks that emphasize lane control and durable armies.
The Fire Elementalist drives aggressive gameplay, fast-cycling fire decks, and plays best in the hands of mobile players.
The Mystic Scribe excels in supportive, sustain-oriented decks.
The Stone Shaman shines in defensive control decks that reinforce lanes and hold ground.

This Closed Beta will help the studio refine the game through player feedback. A second Closed Beta, featuring expanded content, new Spellcasters, arenas, incantations, and summons, will take place early next year as Spellcasters Chronicles continues its journey toward Early Access. Each new phase will introduce additional gameplay features and unveil more about the world and the community-driven narrative of Spellcasters Chronicles.

“We built Spellcasters Chronicles as a game that thrives on adaptation, creativity, and team synergy, and that only truly comes to life once players get their hands on it,” said Gregorie Diaconu, Game Director of Spellcasters Chronicles. “Opening the servers for the first time is such an exciting moment for the team. It’s the beginning of a dialogue we’ve been eager to start; we want to listen, to iterate quickly, and to shape the experience together with our players. Spellcasters Chronicles represents a bold creative step for the studio, and this testing phase marks the start of that shared journey. This first Closed Beta weekend is the opening chapter where your feedback will directly influence the game, from combat pacing and tech stabilization to deck-building balance and beyond. We’re inviting players to experiment, surprise us, and tell us what feels right.”

Players who want to join the Closed Beta can register directly through the Spellcasters Chronicles Steam page, or via the official website. If they do not receive access for this first session, they will remain eligible for the upcoming beta.
