Let's start our Sony Lounge videos with some tasty Wipeout HD footage, my little 60fps sweet. A lot of work has been achieved on the technical level with nifty graphics and an impressive framerate. YUMMY!
More info about that sympathetic lounge right here.
Update: Second gameplay video on another track added, still in 60 fps.

Commented on 2007-09-19 19:44:54The concepts of "futuristic racers" have always been poorly executed IMO. Futuristic racers like Wipeout have always been about eye candy and only associated with showcasing graphics at console launches.
Traditionally after the launch both gamers and developers forget about these types of racers and for the most part you don't see or hear about them until a new wave of next gen consoles arrive. Which would suit me just fine because these things rarely ever presented a challenge.
I remember reading about a game studio years ago that was supposed to be working on a "space racer". The tracks were supposed to consist of runs through asteroid belts, nebulas and planet atmospheres that effected your ship during the courses. I thought that was an interesting take on the whole "future racer" genre but I think the studio that was developing the game closed it's doors.
