It was no surprise for some when CD Projekt RED revealed that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings will be released on Xbox 360 before next year. Here is the trailer in 1080p.
The surprise is that they only want to sell to half of console owners apparently. Oh well, was really looking forward to playing it. Guess I will just put an extra 100 hours into Skyrim...
CD Projekt Red is a AAA studio now in my view. I can't believe how small their dev team is. (They put other studios with hundreds of people and almost unlimited financial resources on notice.)
Xbox 360 gamers are in for a real treat and I'm sure CD Projekt Red will want to release The Witcher 2 on the PS3 as well. It just comes down to development resources I think. They are a small team after all.

it will be a time thing. They've already been promoting the pc version they'll want to capitolise on that. The 360 version's probably already had a few months on it (witcher 2 was originally set to be multiplatform so work probably started before the focus shifted fully on the pc version), and its alot easier/faster to port a pc game to the 360 than ps3.
Unless MS have been clever and secured some sort of deal then you can expect a ps3 version to follow

I think it is a technical thing. 360 is an easier if not easy port from PC and Witcher is a high detail game so 360 user friendliness and I'm sure some of Microsoft influence made it a convenient choice. But eitherway if its compromises aren't damning then this is a great thing.
they've done an interview on GT saying its not going to be dumbed down. Console versions were always in mind. Its been developed heavily with a controller in mind.. so you have to assume they were always hopeful for console ports.. infact knowing how pc gamers moan about games being dumbed down, and the fact that this versions hitting in november this year, it was probably a simple stealth move to keep quiet
Also, he lets slip the term "consoles" in the interview...

Not the same but there are some good ways to work between the two easily and very fast, with focus you can port anything within a handful of weeks. The 'PC to Console' concept page on Giantbomb.com lists all the games that released on PC and were then ported 'to' consoles, and you can kinda see there is a majority that are 'just to 360' like metro 2033 etc. Just seems easy enough that you can just do it without worrying 'too' much.
I doubt there will be a PS3 version but I'm not really disappointed. I will eventually get a 360 again, probably this year. The 360 really is in need of good quality exclusives so I'm happy that it will be making its way to the console that needs it.

And I laughed at the gametrailers interview for what I said all along. Awesome, "we PC players got a great pc focused game" ths way. too bad "it was the beta to the complete console version". The asinine arguments can go around and around like a merry-go-round.
Amazing news for xbox 360, now has Skyrim, Withcer 2, Dark Souls, Mass effect 3, Amalur, Bastion, Fable 4, Kingdoms, Draco, Dust, Obsidian and Feelplus RPGs etc

all those on that list apart from HL2 were released at the same time on console and pc. PC may have been the lead platform but there was no wait for a "port".
When did painkiller hit the 360? i've never seen it

I doubt it will that easy to port to 360 unless they tune down the specs...a mix of low and mid specs I reckon. My old laptop is about as powerful as a 360 and I can barely run the original game (which was craply optimized). At least my new setup should be able to run the sequel on ULtra...
I think the footage in this trailer was taken from the pc version though

Not gonna happen, these guys are Microsoft worshipers, and btw see what I said that don't bother with the PC version just wait for the X360 version instead because PC gamers are never going to buy 7 million copies of a game in less than a month like they did with Assassins Creed, now CDproject needs to make the first game or else they are teh suck as game devs for shipping only a sequel to console owners.
