Really sad that the team behind the likes of Okami and Viewtiful Joe are making a generic sci-fi Gears of War clone. Pandering to dull mainstream Western tastes presumably.
The only interest I have in this will be to laugh at the inevitably comical PS3 port.

1.- They are not the same team.
2.-This is not a Gears clone,Gears took inspiration from RE4 a game by Mikami that happens to be teh same behind this one.
It looks awesome, but am I the only one that is getting a bit of Lost Planet vibe from the animation and look of the game? Nevertheless it looks great and I will get it on day one.. it just doesn't look new to me at all.. personally :)

1. True, and they don't look to play much alike in any case.
2. Gears has Zero in common with RE4- if anything its base gameplay was inspired by something like KillSwitch. Other portions are inspired by other things- just like everything else. Sharing a perspective doesn't make them copycats. And it is a stretch to think that too, as a cover mechanic is hardly something no one would think to put into a game if some other game hadn't done it before.

I thought that initially myself, but the more I watch the more it separates. I know what you mean though, I see it in the movement and in the feel of the aiming, not so much the design and core gameplay though...

2.-RE4 made third person the way it is now so its a more broad statement but yeah even Gears owes RE4 something,I said that because that poster said this was a gears clone but if you think about if it wasnt for RE4 how knows where third person shooters may be thast all.

What sense does that make? The control in RE4 was just as crappy as it was in 5. Splinter Cell is much more similar and that came out long before...

So what you're saying is that Modern Warfare 2 is the clone of Halo 3, 'cause they're both first person shooters, right?

If you think about it that is what the Transformers do when they found their alt mode,just scan some badass stuff and transform and that is what Sam will do,want a badass shotgun well just scan it baby!!!
