SEGA Announces VANQUISH™ for PC

Pre-order details and release date revealed for the PC conversion exclusively for Steam

LONDON – May 10th, 2017 – SEGA Europe Ltd. is thrilled to announce that PlatinumGames' revolutionary sci-fi action shooter VANQUISH™ will launch for PC, on Steam, on Thursday May 25th, 2017, having undergone SEGA's renowned best practice conversion treatment. See the new video HERE

Pre-order VANQUISH on Steam to receive the Digital Deluxe Edition which includes a 5 track soundtrack sampler, character and enemy avatars, art book and exclusive wallpapers. Fans who already own Bayonetta on Steam or purchase it before May 25th 2017, will automatically get 25% off when they pre-order VANQUISH. However, players only have until the 25th of May, 2017, to secure the Digital Deluxe Edition via pre-ordering before it reverts to the Standard Edition.

Directed by Shinji Mikami, the creator of the Resident Evil™ series, VANQUISH is a sci-fi shooter of epic proportion. Take control of DARPA operative Sam Gideon, who has been assigned a mission to battle legions of future-tech enemies using a vast arsenal of weapons. VANQUISH boasts fluid and frenetic combat, spectacular melee moves, and intense speed, wrapped in a gripping story. VANQUISH is the latest best practice conversion from SEGA, and features a host of PC optimized options, including an unlocked framerate, 4k resolution support, extensive graphics options and full keyboard and mouse support.

"It was great to see the positive response from our community to the Bayonetta PC launch last month, and we are pleased that we are in a position to be able to announce VANQUISH, another of our highly requested back catalogue titles," said John Clark, Senior Vice President of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe. "There's more to come from SEGA in this space, so stay tuned for further announcements."

Adding to the growing list of best practice conversions from SEGA's back catalogue, VANQUISH joins Bayonetta, Typing of the Dead™, Valkyria Chronicles™ and the SEGA Mega Drive™ Collection. Keep up to date with all the latest SEGA news on Youtube, facebook and Twitter

Depends on the laptop. The possibilities to tweak games to run on lower specs is extensive. Sure the games often end up looking like ass but it is possible.

Bayonetta's PC port is very, very well optimized and runs on almost everything you can think of. I wouldn't even be surprised if it ran on Surface Pro with settings on Minimum. I don't see why Vanquish's PC port won't be as optimised.

Below is an excerpt from Digital Foundry's Bayonetta PC port performance analysis:

"To say it runs smoothly on a vast range of hardware would be an understatement - we could hit something approaching a locked 1080p60 on a 1GB Radeon HD 7770, a budget GPU when it was released way back in 2012. On more recent graphics hardware, the only way is up."

Digital Foundry - Bayonetta PC runs beautifully - even on old hardware:

The best thing about Vanquish's PC port is that unlike Bayonetta which has a maximum framerate cap of 60fps, Vanquish will have an unlocked framerate, meaning if you have a 144Hz monitor and a PC capable of reaching 144fps, which shouldn't be too difficult with a high-end PC, you will be able to play it buttery smooth. I believe that with a GTX 1080 Ti - for the lucky few - one will even be able to do 4k@144fps, which would be mind-blowing.

Vanquish is like a sonic shooter, if there ever was a good sonic game.

Greatest Credits ever.

????

one is on the rails, collecting rings and emeralds, the other is a TPS with Jetpacks and abilities. sonic gets credit no doubt though for being a decent shooter.

You all forget that KORNdog is a troll and thinks Knack is a good game - and we all know it's only because it's a PlayStation exclusive, so in his mind he must think that, otherwise he can't consider himself a true "Sony fanboy". With Vanquish being a multiplatform game, of course he thinks, how did he put it?! Ah... "SOOOO shit".

My suggestion to everyone is to just ignore these stupid ass flamebait comments. And to KORNdog, is to go play Knack instead of wasting his time reading, watching and/or posting on threads of games he thinks are very shit, while the rest of us go play and greatly enjoy Vanquish.

However KORNdog will never listen, unfortunately, something about "old dogs never learn new tricks" or something like that. It's tragic, really. But there's nothing we can do, so best to just ignore - like a very infectious disease or crazy person.

the woest thing i heard was "is this shit based on the ps3 versions", like the hell that shit mattered.

It was funny because this is the quintessential 3rd party example of deffered rendering at the time... and both were virtually identical.

I was actually surprised to find out that knack2 was in the making. People said it sold a lot, i think that's because it was a launch title and that there weren't many other games at the time. Launch titles usually do sell a lot no matter the reception.
