You like Slay the Spire? You like pirates? No? Oh well, I screwed up my intro... Anyway, let's pretend you just said "Aye, Aye!" (with an exclamation mark for the spirit), let's imagine you love collectible card games and Pirates of the Caribbeans so I can deliver my verdict to you guys.
Verdict
It's always interesting to see how the initial system onto which a game is released can influence its game design. Pirates Outlaws is clearly a light clone of STS whose goal is to allow quick and short game sessions. It is undeniably entertaining, it will not frustrate you and all the content which has been added over time guarantees a pretty good length. The final version was released on April 14 on PC is then pretty generous and it's fun to play, but it can never truly compete with all the games of the same genre which have come out on this system, first because those offer deeper gameplay mechanics and secondly because they are often much more original. That being said, if you want to play on your phone, it's a pretty solid alternative.
- On the upside
- Nice atmosphere
- Character profiles are varied
- Multiple enemies, bosses and environments
- On the downside
- … which are often similar from one character to another
- Mechanics rely too heavily on chance
- Could do better in terms of ergonomics

Aye, Aye! Captain.

Aye! Captain.
Thanks for the review, cryoakira.
Slay the Spire is a great game and this sounds right up my alley. Too few pirates games, unfortunately. It also sounds very jolly and light hearted, the perfect game for the present time. We can all use a little more jolliness in the world.
Let's all shake up our timbers.
