Tokyo Xtreme Racer

After a one week delay due to the Game Convention, I'm happy to finally put online the first 10 minutes of Shutokou Battle X, to be released as Import Tuner Challenge in the US and Europe. As expected, the game isn't that great, but like a lot of other japanese 360 titles released so far, it's also not bad either. The gameplay is ok, and the graphics have some nice things for them, like the shadows of the car headlights. Be aware though that some minimum knowledge about car tuning is required to get a chance against the most difficult opponents.

Genki released another replay trailer from Tokyo Xtreme Racer today, showing some more of this racer. Can't say I'm impressed, but it looks alot better now than it did before.

Genki released this replay video of Tokyo Extreme Racer. This one gives a much better impression of this game than anything we saw before.

Genki has released a long (and first?) trailer for Tokyo Xtreme Racer, and it looks surpisingly good. Nice reflections on the cars, great sense of speed and pretty good environments. Screenshots doesn't do this game any justice! There are some pop-in-problems, and hopefully they'll be fixed before the Japanese release in the end of July.
Update : I've reencoded the trailer from scratch and deinterlaced it. It doesn't look great, but it's still better than before. I've also added some images.

Genki released a bunch of images of Tokyo Xtreme Racer, which could end up being revolutionary. The graphics are a revolution for the industry, as some of the details (rear headlights, urgh) looks worse than two console generations back did. I really feel bad writing a lot of bad things about some Japanese developers as the people seems to be so kind, but they really need to shape things up.

Genki released a bunch of new images from Tokyo Extreme Racer, which really fail to impress. It's really sad to see, but it's just better to ignore the fact (and the game) than be all aggressive about it, even though I guess we should wait for a gameplay video. The series seems to have a quite big fanbase after the Dreamcast versions, but the newest one, Tokyo Xtreme Racer DRIFT (just released on PS2), didn't get that good reviews.

Famitsu Weekly this week had 4 pages about 2 upcoming Xbox 360 games: Tokyo Xtreme Racer (Shutokou Battle X) by Genki and Bullet Witch by Cavia. I was a great fan of Shutokou Battle on Dreamcast, so I can't wait to see that new episode on my 360.

As usual for conferences, Microsoft showed a trailer regrouping all the big Xbox 360 games. You can know see this trailer, directly from Tokyo and exclusively on Xboxyde :)

Microsoft released the following two 720p-images of the japanese street racer, Tokyo Extreme Racer. There is some room for improvement!

Microsoft published the list of upcoming japanese games coming to Xbox 360. Some games are still unnamed and are not listed here. Looks like some japanese developers are willing to let Microsoft get a second chance after the disaster that was the first Xbox in Japan.
