Mercenaries 2 - new video blogs!

This time about character models. Wow they are very detailed, they're actually better than the ones in GTA4 (altough I think we've seen only main character up close in GTA). I also love how they are crazy and imaginative. I love how they did hair too (which is usually the worst looking part of characters in next-gen games).

This and Assassin's Creed should be the best sandbox games this year. Everything about them is so awesome.:]

Does look pretty nice. But we can't really tell until we get some direct feed HD stuff from it right?

Yeah, although having seen GDC demo and this low-res videos from developers I can say graphics already met my standards and expectations for next-gen Mercenaries I had while playing Mercs 1. :D I am not concerned about it at all, it's gameplay that I would like see some more (like helicopters and boats in action, a more complicated mission etc.). I hope we'll have again dozens options to accomplish missions.

I can totally see the connection between fashion design and character design, especially when it comes down to designing clothing :P

It looks rather ugly and didn't get me more excited about the game. :/ It is extremely jaggy, I hope they'll do something about it.

They're talking about their goals with character creations, they added background story, evolved old characters and added some new. Unfortunately they didn't reveal total number of characters a year ago they said there would be five, but looking at their talk it has probably changed).

Seems like it is back to the original three only. They seem to have chopped out the additionals, which isn't really a bad thing if it makes the three original characters deeper due to the time spent on them.

You're right. It seems they will a have a bit different story progression, but sadly the guy from Pandemic in the teamxbox interview didn't say anything about gameplay differences between them.

Scott Warner: There are a number of new mechanics for you to enjoy this time around but just to name a few:

* Water-based gameplay: Travel across seas, lakes and rivers to get and fight against huge battleships!

* The Grappling hook: Target helicopters in mid air, latch on to them with your hook and draw yourself into to take over the vessel by force in the sky!

* Tactical building destruction: Now when you destroy buildings the large debris bits can hit the ground and crush enemies below (or send them flying!)

The first one isn't new, the second one was indicated in the last trailer, but still it's great to know how it'll work - we finally won't be completely vulnearble against helicopters... And the third one is very cool.

No one outside of EA/Pandemic really knows. But apparently it's a summer release as of now.
