BBC Life on PS3

I know this is maybe not deserving of a whole new topic but what the heck. I just got BBCs Life series on blu-ray. The majority of it is supposedly in 1080p. On the box it says:
VIDEO FORMAT: High Definition 1080p*

*Some short elements of the programme are interlaced (i.e. the credit rollers)

When I am watching it however my TV always states that the signal is 720p. I can't figure out if this is the ps3s problem or my TV. Sometimes when I load up a blu-ray the tv will display 720p at the top when it is playing introduction reels or something. Then when the main feature starts the screen will flicker and it will come up with 1080/24p. Anyone got any ideas as to what is going on here?

turn it off auto scaling.

On the PS3? I can't see any setting for that.

Hmm. The only thing I can see is something about upscaling and that is just for SD content. This is annoying. If it can be played in 1080p I don't want to watch until I can see it that way.

Hmm when i get home tonight i will check it, there was SD one yes, but i saw a diffrent one, i may be smoking crack so will have to check when get home.

turn the console off and then turn it on by holding the button down untill it beeps TWICE, it resets the video settings. (and also your theme) but you can turn that back on once you're done.

that should work, if not, it sounds like it's your TV.
