UT99 was a much more popular game. When you have a population problem, bots just make it worse. If there are only a few thousand people playing the game, chances are, they'd rather be playing it with one another. UT3 had too many servers and too few players. The bots just water down the population.

Which they're always going to do. I'm kinda anti-bot. But when you've got a population problem, it just exacerbates everything.

I think it's more of a current gen problem that they're trying to figure out a solution to

Population is a problem in any game now. There's too many releases and people grow tired of games much faster because of this.
It's good for smaller devs but it's killed what made classic franchises so great and long lasting.
Bots is grasping at straws (Titanfall), but they're trying to figure it out I think

NS2 is a good example of this. It's probably one of the best FPS I had played since the original Halo (which I say because I played it for maybe 3 years), and had it released in say the days of Xbox and PS2, it would have had many successful years.
But because of the gaming culture now it's left to wither and die quickly forgotten.

It's part of gaming that I miss, and will likely never see again.

Well.. population was a bigger problem in UT3 than it's been in any recent game I've played. And probably with more players!

I wonder what we're going to get here. I'm down with a straight up UT99 revival.

But hey there's always that Destiny beta coming in July that'll probably play exactly like the Halo game you played 10 years ago

I honestly thought the recent footage made it look more like a first person Warframe. Then when the camera zoomed out to 3rd person for the magic power shot I thought it looked exactly like Warframe.

The idea that Destiny will play "exactly like the Halo game you played 10 years ago" is almost laughable.

Wait, no, I laughed! Come on! That's some kind of crazy hyperbole. It's worse than calling TitanFall "Call of Duty with mechs!"

The Warframe comparison is maybe even weirder. But Warframe uses crap server-side MMO-mob-style AI.. so even if they were similar (let's fucking hope not!), it's already better on the merit of bungie's experience designing more interesting enemy encounters than.. most people.

I would be shocked if Bungie's FPS didn't look a lot like Halo. And probably disappointed. Especially since Halo is dead.

I'm not riding on 100% confidence in Destiny, but I'll give them like, 75% maybe :D

I think my biggest (and only presently) disappointment with Destiny is that it doesn't look like it will ever be at home on the PC. I mean, Activision and Bungie might eventually bring the thing to Windows, but it's got that slow Halo pacing (that Reach and Halo 4 practically abandoned) that is pretty intentionally designed around the gamepad. At least that's what it looks like when people are playing it with gamepads. Which, ya know.. is probably good for a console FPS. I just don't want it to be a console FPS :D

Halo is not dead. Maybe multiplayer is right now but when 5 comes out people will be flocking back in droves. Still one of the biggest franchises in the market

COD does have mechs now, and wall running/riding

It'll be interesting with those implementations just how different they are, like you're saying.

I don't really mean it literally. Call of Duty has been dead in my opinion since the release of MW2. That didn't stop people from buying it.

I think once they show more story stuff it will get people hyped. So far its been mostly firefights and zero story pieces... weird way to market. Typically games advertising is heavily story focused, even multiplayer shooters like CoD and BF4

The more they used those Halo style ViDocs and the less gameplay they showed the less interested I became. Now I'm just waiting for the beta in July to make a decision. Borderlands is also one of those games that plays a lot more fun than it looks.

The 3 player co-op is disappointing, and I think if more people knew about it they'd stop the MMO discussion. No matter which group of friends I'd play with someone is getting left out.

They just started developing it though. It will be playable in alpha.
Fans with an Unreal Engine 4 subscription can participate in the crowdsourced development the next Unreal Tournament, with fan-created mods playing an integral role in its life post-launch. Epic intends to create a marketplace where creators can give away or sell their custom content. Epic's cut from those sales is what will pay for the game.

"We see this as an ongoing project with no end date," project lead Steve Polge told IGN. "Unreal Tournament will be the base both for the continued evolution of the competitive FPS, and as a great way to enable aspiring developers to realize their visions for this kind of game."
It's pretty much exactly the TF2 model. Which is extremely popular. Please work.

I wouldn't go as far to say that it looks boring, just that the pace of the action is definitely slower than the games I've been playing as of late.

I cancelled my pre-order when they returned after a 4 month delay to show us a game that looked even worse then before...lol.

I was waiting to see if the PS4 version could muster up 1080p... guess not. PC it is!

Now we patiently await The Division's announcement of 900p/792p on PS4 and XB1 and massive downgrade in graphics!
