If i'm not mistaken, the PS4 was spec'ed for 4GB memory, but due to development in manufacturing of GDDR memory they were able to swap out the memory chips with larger sized ones. If one of the machines had ended up having 4GB (vs 8GB on the other) that would have been the biggest limiter for multiplatform games the coming years.

Many high-profile developers have stated that the amount of memory is the one component that is most important. It's crucial to expanding genres (and help creating new one).

Having 8GB will really help these machines in the long run, and compared to the other components, it's the one that's been boosted the most.

You're right. It was originally just 4 gigs until other developers requested more gigs, which turned into 8gb of memory.

The one thing I've been thinking about is investing in a 1 - 2 tb hard drive. With games averaging 40gb installs (or caches), that's gonna eat up alot of space pretty darn quick.

The funny shit about Sony lying through their teeth about DRM etc aside and all the 720p crap my biggest fear is that they truly are having major issues with PSN. I'm looking forward to playing killzone and BF4 the most but only the online part, SP I could give 2 shits. Only non online launch game I'm excited for is nba2k14.

As for x1 I could care less as I won't be getting that for many months down the road.

But if both launches are a shit show it will at least make browsing the net at work a lot more fun lol. I think these sites would melt down if PSN was broken and xbox live was silky smooth lol. But I really don't see that happening...

Patcher said Sony was also interested in those ridiculous DRM policies but they dropped the idea and basically left Microsoft stranded to take all the shit. lol. Not sure if that was true or not. I highly doubt it but I guess we will never know.

Is it not fair to directly compare the performance of the same piece of software? Is it not reasonable, logical even, to consider that a measure of value?

That's not childish at all. Deflection, denial, personal attacks, and a fanatical commitment to brand. That stuff is childish.

Counting pixels is just counting pixels. There was a lot of flat denial that there would be any measurable difference between multiplatforms at all. But now, if we see any difference, that difference just doesn't matter. Or it will disappear in a year when the tools mature, or seven other ways to rationalize the same nonsense.

Meanwhile.. the Wii U has a better library.
