Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

I still can't believe that I am seeing this much Diablo III information today. I am so damn happy now :D

How is a point & click game better with a controller?
As for the loss of hotkeys, I guess you could do something like assign different moves/spells to each of the coloured buttons and then add extra for each trigger, potions and mana could be assigned to the shoulder buttons.
I played some more and I'm kind of getting into it, its kind of surprising how addictive picking up objects can be :S (which reminds me I really should give KUF:COD another try)
Marumaro for the WIN !!
Also if you didn't know pressing alt key shows all the stuff that was dropped from the enemies. Tab shows minimap and F1-F12 can be used to map skills.

I just watched the Diablo 3 vids properly, and it actually looks quite cool :D (trying to download the HD gameplay but its not moving :S)
So from what i gather you now get job specific armor, I'm surprised you didn't get that in Diablo 2 TBH.
It's hard to know what is best to use with so much choice lol.
Marumaro for the WIN !!
... Right that's it, i'm going to play Diablo 2. :D
but games like Neverwinter Nights and others I could never get into because i always bored easily from them. And as happy as I would have been if they made it from a 3rd-Person-Fable sorta view, I guess its cool how they're keeping the old-style traditional look of their other games.
in this case, its preview orgasm :P
it was like dating a girl that just shopped from victoria secret, giving you a bonner not even NATO can dissarm...
GoW, War3, Halo, MYST, Civilazation
Looks awesome by the way. The hotbar and quick-switch skill thing will probably make the game a lot more fun.
We seek permission to devour you. We mean...to approach the bench.

Hey, I'm just like you. I put my pants on one leg at a - dammit, I knew I forgot something today.
Now that I think about it, I am surprised that no one in the US has filed a class action suite for RSI against PC game makers. Of course the suit would fail, but it would be interesting to see what the total cost of gaming induced RSI is.
It's unlikely that people who refuse to play a PC the way it was designed to be played game will ever play Diablo 3. But then again I still haven't played Super Mario Brothers because that mouse patch isn't out yet.
PS. Europe is PC gamings biggest market, and lately they've been just as happy to file frivolous lawsuits in Euroland as anywhere else.. so maybe they should do it.
MnK is by FAR superiour.
Well Phaethon360, pc gaming was never dead, i find almost every single game thats on pc and console is superior on pc. I tried GoW on pc, and i loved the game on 360, but the pc version is even better.
As for claims piracy is killing the pc market, BS, same as music and movies, people will pay for quality, the people that dl a videogame is the people that would have otherwise NEVER spent 5 cents on that game to begin with, on the other hand if they like it they will most likelly buy it for the multiplayer component.
Diablo 2 is a great example, warcraft 3, half life, team fortress, even crysis sold over 1 million, considering you need a new pc just to play crysis, they should be happy with the 1million + sales.
Theres piracy on consoles also, except console gamers are less demanding, PC gaming isnt dead, its just more refined.
Diablo 3 will easilly sell 5 million +...
GoW, War3, Halo, MYST, Civilazation
Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 will sell loads of copies, and you probably won't see Blizzard abandoning PC exclusives any time soon, because they know how to make it work. The thing is, their games almost all rely on a multiplayer infrastructures where it's very difficult to really enjoy the game to its maximum capacity with a pirated copy. Not every game can have such a system in place.. though.. there are games that don't which should, like Call of Duty 4.
The ratio of pirated games versus actual sales on consoles isn't even simular. The PSP is pretty highly effected by the issue as well though. PC gaming sure aint dead though, and Blizzard aims to prove it again, and again and again!
Movement is definately better with a controller. Point and click just plain sucks as a control scheme. It always has. Until this console generation however, there really weren't options. The one area in which MnK works better is targeting as I mentioned early. I would very gladly sacrifice a little flexibility in targeting for the massive ergonomic gains of controller based play.
I would also tend to disagree that, well, any ARPG plays better on a console. Movement is only improved by an analog input when you NEED analog movement. There are hardly any examples of games that require analog movement, even outside of the ARPG spectrum. No single FPS benefits greatly from analog movement, even stealth games, like Thief and Splinter Cell control extremely well with the keyboard and mouse. The best example of games where you actually need a gamepad to play successfully are are third person games where you do not have direct or constant control over the camera.. stuff like Prince of Persia, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry.. those games were born and bread on consoles and I'd never disagree that the gamepad is better there.
Oblivion plays much better on the PC. The interface is better, the controls are better (yes, down to movement) and it's just as (if not more) intuitive. Ditto for Mass Effect. Really. Both games control extremely well with a WASD interface, and the actual interface beyond the control of your avatar/character is just loads better. Mass Effect benefits greatly by trading clumsy radial menus in for hotkeys.
To be fair, there certainly are some exceptions. The Tales games obviously control better with their intended interface, as do games like Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It's likely that Too Human will as well, etc.
Diablo 3 won't launch day and date with the 360.. it's pretty damn unlikely that there will ever be a console release of Diablo 3. If Blizzard branches off into console development, it will be with original releases, like Starcraft Ghost! ;)
If you're really that uncomfortable playing games with a keyboard and mouse, that's your choice, but aiming is not the only advantage it delivers. People tend to underrate the keyboard in this conversation, especially on your end of the argument. Having five fingers (on one hand) that can independently press several keys at once, and move more quickly between movements is actually one of the key advantages to PC FPS.. it's not just that those games don't force you to use training wheels in the form of massive aim assists. Movement is better in PC FPS in ways that negates any advantage analog pacing could possibly deliver.
You get Fallout 3 on the same release day as the PC version though, and I'm sure the PC version will suffer as a consequence.. but at least we still have games like Diablo, The Witcher, and Dragon Age, as well as the best versions of Bethesda's games, and great ports of Bioware's console "exclusives."
If ergonomics are your main complaint re: PC gaming, well, there are ways to avoid RSI all together if you're really concerned.. but that seems like a cop-out response to me. Playing a PC game is no more detrimental to my hands and wrists than writing, or using CS3. Well, there was that one game of COD4 FFA to 1000 kills, that sorta hurt.
Can't people just let PC gamers get excited? This is an earth shattering announcement. It trumps anything E3 will have to offer for many people. I don't get why some people need to try to piss on our parade here.
There is many console exclusive games and then when there is one for the PC, starts the same: when the 360 version is coming and stuff. PC can have exclusives too! Most of the time when good PC games have come to consoles interface has been shit for PC gamers and many great features have been dropped off. Then when games like this is announced I am so glad! Yes this is the best gaming news in many years for me. Diablo & StarCraft series FTW!
Also this game is meant to be played on b.net so it will sell really well. It needs the key and no one really wants to play Diablo outside the awesomeness of b.net. Diablo series have sold more than 17 million copies and that information is from 2006. You can still find easily this game from game shops and I don't mean used I mean brand new. I have 2 copies of both Diablo II and expansion. So yeah I sure love this game!
I don't want console talk to this thread! I like consoles and I know when gamepad is better than mouse & keyboard but still can we just talk about this game and it's features without useless console talk?
If that sounds a bit angry response it's because I really am angry. I have years and years listened the same old lies that are used about PC gaming. PC gaming is dying, you need to upgrade your PC every month, games doesn't work without patches... list goes on and on. So please I don't want to read any of that on this or other threads. Yeah I am PC gaming fan (not fanboy) but I can still appreciate good games on other platforms too be that DS, PSP, PS3, 360 or what ever.
Btw what does Rappel mean? I guess it's French word? That word is used below this writing box:

As for the control system yea it works but I would have liked to see them change the Diablo 3 to something more like Too Human.
And its not really about hating PC gaming as you seem to think, its about widening the audience to a good game.
There is no doubt in my mind that on a console and with the correct control method this game would easily outsell the pc version, but it doesn't look like thats guna happen.
Why do people grasp on to their exclusives, its like fans don't wana share the greatness of a good game.
Marumaro for the WIN !!

And games like this, as strategy games will always be played with mouse and keyboard, its the best suited for them, can do multiple tasks. While using controller, we are really limited.
Im happy they are keeping it as before, nothing better than isometric view (hope Dragon age has it).
Anyway, just ordered diablo 2, hope doesnt take to long to get it :D
"And the Heavens - Shall Tremble!"
And yeah, I don't want to share the greatness of Diablo with people who want it to be a different game. You want it to be Too Human? Play that! Sheesh.
You can doubt Blizzard's sales records all you want, but I think it's pretty freaking obvious that they know what they're doing. The audience for Diablo is on the PC, right where they belong. Sure, if it were Too Human maybe it would outsell.. oh wait.. no.. in the long run (since people will be playing this game in 10 fuckin years!) D3 will outsell that game by a ton!
I hope we see Dragon Age at E3. I can't believe it's going to slip into 2009.
On amazon.com Diablo 2 battlechest is number 22 on best sellers, while BF bad company to 360 is on 25!
"And the Heavens - Shall Tremble!"
I hope we see Dragon Age at E3. I can't believe it's going to slip into 2009.
I always heard Dragon Age as PC exclusive, but now with EA not sure. And im not sure, thats why i hope it has isometric view. When we are exploring city, we see our character in third person view. When we get into a fight, camera changes into isometric view. Still not sure about this :)
Oops sorrry dobule post :/
"And the Heavens - Shall Tremble!"
Cant wait for diablo 2, the demo is really fun! I never played diablo but played games that have the same gameplay. Like Dungeon siege(loved it), and Titan quest.
This type of game is really addictive, and can last for long time :p
