starcraft 2 is the reason i got a new pc, diablo 3 just means my pc is the only thing ill be playing on.

my PC is outdated for new games like COD4 or Crysis but i think ill be fine playing this one at top settings.

They refused to give a release date, and just said that they're concerntrating more on getting a good quality game out that can be as good as it can be. What we do know is that it's been in development for around 4 years. Given the quality of the gameplay footage we've seen, i'm sure it's not too far away.

Soon is such a relative word. 2010 is a serious possibility, we don't know how much work is actually done. Plus, with the likelihood that SC2 will hit in 2009, I'm sure they want to pace themselves a little.

If you can play this at its HIGHEST settings with out a problem, you can play Call of Duty at reasonable settings too. COD4 and Crysis aren't even in the same ballpark when it comes to performance and system requirements.

Hmm depends what resolution you set it too, everything is in 3D and there can be a lot of enemies on screen at one time, add on top of that magic effects and what seems to be a pretty sweet physics engine, I wouldn't assume anything :P

From what I can see the game is pretty much complete in terms of the game engine, I guess blizzard are just adding content now, so I don't expect it to take too long.

It's cool that they have shown gameplay for this and SC2. It's just kinda dissapointing knowing that there is potentially a very long wait.

I read somewhere that they have almost done the first act. Then again don't ask how many act's this has and balancing will take time too. No hurry though because it's going to be a great game and in the meant time there is StarCraft 2 and other good games coming.

Hmm is SC2 even in beta yet? If not then I wouldn't wait it to come too early either.

I liked blizz games since warcraft 1...
And i followed diablo 2 since it 1st got announced and pics were shown, till 3 years later when it finally got released...
Warcraft 3 changed so much since 1st screens to actual game, basically it was a new game... The initial idea was to have heroes and a few units each with unique abilities, and game was quest driven, then they switched back to full top down rts. not complaining, warcraft 4 can try that formula again hehehe

Blizzard is KNOWN to take their time, if we get SC2 in 2009, were lucky, as for diablo 3, 2010 is minimum, wouldnt be surprised if its 2011.

It's all guess work. SC2 in 2009 isn't lucky, it's a pretty reasonable guess.. just as reasonable as anyone else's. We'll see what happens. I suppose it could be a two year gap.. who knows. Right behind the 360 port of SC2 I'm sure..

I just dug up my D2 discs, going to reinstall it later today.

I ordered my copy of Diablo 2 from play.com last night, should be here in a couple of days hopefully.

Blizzard announced that SC2 definitely won't be here in 2008, so I guess 2009 is likely. As for Diablo 3 .. well, it's anyone's guess at this stage.

Yeah.. I suppose 2010 isn't a bad guess for SC2 either. They did state that the game is one third complete, and that they've been working on it since 2003. So.. ten more years? ;)

I'm hoping for a mid-year release in 2009, pre-holiday. But if it makes Christmas I'll still be happy.

Would be nice if SC2 has an open beta like war 3 did. That was so fun, and so few bugs for a beta, it was just balancing.

plus the beta was like 6 months long, so made the wait so much easier.

I was hoping D3 would be out a lot sooner than that, 2009 is fine, 2010 I don't wana wait that long.

I'm not really sure how Blizzard work, but im guessing once the Wow Expansion is finished they may have a few more people to spare for other teams.

Blizzard games has always been that way. Polish, polish and polish even more the game. They want that their games are absolutely the best they could do and when you check reviews of their games those are getting lots of game/expansion of the year awards. When I get Blizzard game I know it's going to be a quality product and I can wait for it.

There is even couple games they have canceled (Warcraft Adventures :( ) because Blizzard thought those weren't good enough.

After playing the demo last night, I went out and bought Diablo II and the expansion :)

Will be going on holiday tomorrow for the next few weeks, but my girlfriend is taking her laptop so it's all good!

^They also cancelled that StarCraft Ghost game.

Don't forget to install the newest patch for it. No CD needed for playing.

Install the original Diablo 2 with full installation, then expansion, install the latest patch and do the next step to get it to run without CD.

For users that originally performed a 'Full Installation'
and wish to run without the CD, all '.MPQ' files should
be copied from the Diablo 2 CDs to the Diablo 2 directory.
Most users will only need to copy D2Music.mpq from the
Diablo 2 Play CD and/or D2xMusic.mpq from the Lord of
Destruction CD. Mac users will need to copy these music
files and rename them to 'Diablo II Music' and
'Diablo II Expansion Music' respectively.

I know that my crappy computer can handle Diablo 2, but i'm not sure if it has enough hard drive space to install the expansion as well ... bummer :(

What exactly will I be missing out on if I don't get the expansion as well as the main game?

Well without playing the expansion there are probably better people to tell you this, but on the back of the box it says there's two new classes (Assassin + Druid) to play the new act with, new monsters and weapons.. and best of all.. you can display the game at 800*600! :O

Game takes 1.88GB of HDD space with full install + expansion. It can also be installed as multiplayer install that won't install movies to HDD. You need to change disc then when game has cinematic scenes.

Expansion has final act, 2 characters more (assassin & druid), runes, jewels?, umm lots of items, bigger stash (storage space in town), more Horadric cube recipes and 800*600 resolution (original has only 640*480). Maybe some more additions too can't remember :p

Diablo III will sell like crazy. I have to say Diablo III announcement was so great that no wonder D2 sells now. Best way to announce the game for sure. Many days speculation about it and then BOOM: website, screenshots, cinematic trailer, 20 mins gameplay, artworks, music, presentation of the world...

In fact, best idea i've seen for unveling a game in a while. It really didn't look like it was going to be Diablo 3 if the picture was anything to go by, but you always knew in the back of your mind that it could be. Gotta hand it to Blizzard, they know how to make great hype as well as great games.

Yes, I am one of those who ordered Diablo 2 straight after the announcement of Diablo 3. ;)
