2 player i hope, 3-4 player on halo is shit, but i would never say no to 4 player, more options the merrier.

It wouln't bother me much if it was single only, because I always play alone on my first walkthrough.
I find it more immersive when I dont have someone else running around and talking all the time.

Its just striking that coop is not mentioned yet for the campain...

Just some info I heard from some reliable game development friends who have actual dev kits for the next xbox and are kept pretty up to date on plans for what's to become final hardware, and I pmed Acert to tell him about some of it, since he lives for this kind of stuff. There is a concern among some that are actively following legitimate sources/leaks on the next gen machines that MS are pretty much going nuts with the specs of the machine in pretty much every other way, impressive CPU, large amount of RAM etc, but seem to be mailing it in on on the GPU side of things, which would, if it ends up true, give the next xbox a GPU that is disappointingly close to less than half the power of the expected GPU inside the PS4, which is weird since MS are usually pretty good at balancing their consoles. Such an imbalance would perhaps be a sign that their focus is more on providing power and resources for a kinect version 2 enhanced, all in one entertainment system that runs a version of Windows 8, and hardcore gaming would be a sort of secondary concern.

Reading those concerns, I asked some friends who I'm sure would definitely know, and they seem to believe there is a strong possibility that this is an innocent case of confusion with the interpretation of a few numbers, and they seem to be indicating that the GPU in the next xbox should be, at the least, much more impressive than some are saying based on information they have on what's expected to become final, and what their development targets are. I received some small bits of information on the GPU and what might make it special, and pmed Acert to see if he could make better sense of what they were referring to, but especially to see if Acert could be hearing anything remotely consistent with what I've heard from other reliable sources. The guys I spoke to are as reliable as they come for a number of reasons, so I'm hoping that maybe it's a case of their simply having newer/more up to date info.

They are friends, but they're still pretty damn cryptic about what they say on the matter, not wanting to violate NDAs. Or I suppose trying their best to respect the existence of the NDA anyway :)

And, no, the campaign isn't singleplayer only. Not exactly sure how they justify backup for the chief early on, since he doesn't run into the spartan 4s until about 33% of the way through the game. Still, they don't really need to justify the backup, just like bungie didn't justify the back up in Halo 3. Those 3 elites being there to back up the chief made no sense, but it served its purpose for co-op, I'm guessing 343 gives you 3 more master chiefs as backup. 50 spartan ops missions, 13 hours of content :D I can pretty much double that hour count, because I never finish games as quickly as marketing or reviews say I should. They have definitely already confirmed co-op for the campaign, redneck.

Frankie has said you can still play through the SP with friends, and that co-op wasn't just being isolated to spartan ops.

Come on now this is Halo, it supports the same 4player coop online through SP..

Bro, I just came back from the library after an intense pre-calculus 6 hour marathon. I feel like playing BF3 but my graphic card is toasting itself at 65 degrees Celsius on idle. I could care less about Square or what their defence force has to say about their shoddy efforts ~_~


Anyway back to Halo 4, the edge details were great!! I wish it were coming to PC :(

I tried the get back to Halo 4 thing already. The attempt was met with limited success. Sometimes I think people jump at any opportunity to type up some curse words on an internet forum lol, and I suppose I provided that rare opening, but whatever, I suppose :D

Why PC? Don't have a 360? Or is it just the obvious graphical upgrades that come with pc gaming that you're after. To be honest, the concept of a new major halo title releasing day one on PC has always been kinda exciting, but it'll never happen. 65 degrees idle!? Seems kinda crazy. To be honest, since pc GPUs started getting released with such amazing performance potential, I haven't really done any kind of overclocking in ages. Is that what you did? Hell, I don't even know what the temp for my GPU is. I mostly obsess over CPU temp and generally ignore the GPU temp.

Also, with the number of times the chief's first true nemesis is being mentioned regarding Halo 4 lately, I get the feeling that we're probably going to see him soon. I have a funny feeling that he might be a combat AI based on the original Didact, and not necessarily the Didact some of us are expecting.

My GPU idle temp is pretty much identical to that at 64 degrees. Will that really keep you from playing BF3? What kind of GPU you got? I have a Radeon 6870.

that doesn't sound right optimus, try going into the catalyst control centre and turn up the fan manually. 64 degrees is fine at full load but not at idle. My GPU goes up to 92 degrees while playing BF3.... BTW the heat sink fan broke, can't afford a new aftermarker cooler

Seems I'm gonna have to uninstall these beta AMD drivers, since it seems that Overdrive isn't responding as it did prior to my installing these new drivers. I can't get into the fan controls. Had no idea my 6870 was running much hotter than it should. My i5 2500k, by comparison, is running at a very lovely 29 degrees while overclocked to 4GHZ. Even under load, it barely touches 33 degrees.

There we go, I got access to manual fan controls now. Wonder how safe it is to crank the fan up to 100% P Wouldn't exactly want to kill the fan. Simply activating manual fan control, though, and leaving the fan at 50% dropped temp from 65 to 55 degrees in about 2 minutes.

wonderful! But yea running the fan at 60% to 100% always is a bad idea...my fan died out cause I was running it at 60% ever since I bought it 2 years ago (or whenever AMD launched the HD 5000 series card). Too much dust accumulated inside the fan assembly and it just failed.

This computer is a POS, I attached a water cooler to the CPU and even still it jacks up to 45 degrees while on idle, freaking AMD!!

Once I get a job, I will sell this POS and buy a futureproof machine (something that will be able to handle PS4 and Xbox 720 ports for years to come)

Yea, in that case, I'll probably play things a bit safe, since hardcore gaming has been pretty great for me ever since I got this bad boy. Wouldn't want to risk damaging anything well before I plan to replace it. However, I'm just going to up and connect my two case side fans that I removed a while back when I was cleaning everything. I was just too lazy to reconnect everything. That should help to keep things a bit cooler in there.

Read up on so many sites, and it would seem an idle temperature such as this is alarming, but I haven't noticed the slightest hiccup so far.

I suppose if the fan is so effective right now at cooling things down once it gets going, then that's prob the reason why I've been able to game so regularly without any hiccups. I suppose if the fan is doing its job under load, then there may not be as big a concern about what it idles at, I suppose. Yea, there should be a lot of ps4/720 ports :o
