Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

I'm not really okay with a competitive game saying, "Hey, you're not doing to well, need some help?" I'm no more okay with it saying, "Hey, you're doing awesome! Want a rocket launcher?" Those are just busted ideas. It goes hand-in-hand with the need to incentivize. Gamer's don't appear to be motivated by their performance alone. They need to be constantly rewarded. Well that's just bad for any damn game.
People like feeling like a badass and don't particularly care about playing a structured competitive game.
And even if I don't play Halo 4 MP all that much, Grift, which I certainly will this time around, it still doesn't change the fact that these changes/additions aren't nearly as bad as some people are making them out to be. They would be disastrous for Counter-Strike, but they can work for Halo. It's not like I've never played Halo MP before, I have. It's just I've never played enough where I could legitimately call myself a halo mp gamer. For example, I've played battlefield and unreal tournament before, too, but never enough where I could ever call myself a major fan of those mp games. Quake III Arena and Counter-Strike 1.5/1.6, however, is an entirely different story altogether.

It was a guarantee that the riot shield addition to cs would never be a serious part of competitive play, and if people really do end up hating these infinity ordinance drops so much that they end up creating some kind of unique play settings for those who want to do competitive play, then so be it, but I think it works, and so do many others. Even if you do play Halo MP far, farrrr more than I ever did, the basics of Halo MP gameplay, however, aren't exactly completely foreign to me. Yea, I would probably need to learn things about all the different gametypes that people such as yourself are already thoroughly familiar with, like what it takes to win a team match, points needed etc, that kind of thing, but the core gameplay isn't this miraculously complex formula.
Cheer leading, eh? Unlike a lot of other cheerleaders, I could see pretty early on that COD's MP would suck, and as a result, never bought into the hype, but I'm guessing that didn't stop you from investing serious time into COD's MP, correct?
Oh, and yes that sound is amazing. They do a bit of that audio trickery earlier in the Halo 4 SP video, when you first encounter that Promethean Knight. Notice how the sound of the watcher capturing your grenade then throwing it back at you is far more pronounced or highlighted in that first encounter, because they clearly want to highlight the significance of what's happening? Said it before, the sound design in this game is amazing.

And yeah, I'll stick with what I said too. Those concepts are fundamentally broken ideas. You don't care, but I don't need to search for a reason. You really want everything about this game to be as exciting as possible. More power to ya. There's plenty of reasons to be apprehensive about where 343 is taking their ideas from.
And here's another thing: I don't even care if Halo 4 is completely its own thing. The issues at the heart of this discussion are not that they are messing with something that I can't let go of. It's that the features they're implementing into this game are a blight on the genre. They are drinking from a tainted well.
So if you take a few steps back and look at Halo without the expectations or the hype, I still think these are terrible, broken ideas.
They are chasing that COD audience for sure.
I think this stuff failing in COD isn't automatically an indication that similar things will fail in Halo 4, because Halo and COD, at their very cores, are entirely different kinds of MP experiences. Trust me, I could care less if Halo 4's MP sucks. I've never bought a Halo game for the MP, and I won't be starting now. I buy Halo games for the SP campaign. I also bought COD4 and Modern Warfare 2 purely for the SP as well. People have told me before how flawed this practice was, but I didn't really care to get into newer MP games, as I was a die hard competitive cs 1.6 player, and that was the only online fps I really needed.
Still, I have no skin in the game on the success or failure of this game's MP. In fact, MP can be an utter disappointment for all I care, and there wouldn't even be a shred of disappointment on my part. I'm just trying to be optimistic and not overreact to things that I don't feel are worth overreacting about is all. I'd be far more crushed if the SP sucked than if the MP did. However, I'm genuinely willing to give Halo MP a serious shot this time around, and am remaining optimistic about things that I don't exactly consider terrible deal breakers for an mp game such as Halo.
My biggest concern by far with Halo 4's MP is these power-ups, and certain tactical packages and support upgrades, like extra ammunition and quicker shield recharge rates. But, again, these things may just be balanced out by everything else, making the concern unnecessary in the end.

They probably should have hired RoosterTeeth.
But your only motivation should be that its fun as hell to play!! :)
However, with that said, it would be dishonest if I didn't say that I'm becoming a bit saddened though, because I get the feeling you guys aren't even trying anymore. I hope you aren't giving up on me, because I certainly have not given up on you. If you absolutely must make fun of my excitement for Halo 4 at all costs, at least provide me with the tiny bit of decency to do so with something you know I actually care about, like the single player campaign/story for starters. I mean, trust me I understand, there's not really all that much to make fun of there, so the best bet is to instead go for the weak link, or red headed stepchild in the entire package that is Halo MP :P
PS:: Cool little trend you guys got going, also. Phaethon makes a sarcastic or derogatory comment about the game, then Grift you come in right behind him almost instantly and successfully ride the bandwagon into the sunset. You guys wouldn't happen to be coordinating your posts, now would you? How cute :) I had this hamster once, and for every major item that was located in my room (television, bed, ps1 console, etc), I matched it with a near identical item and layout location as best I could inside my hamster's rather large, pimped out cage (Honestly thought his room looked cooler than mine. TV was sure as hell better!). I even had this awesome miniature ps1 console in there with him. *sigh* Memories. RIP Ultimate Warrior. Yes, yes, I actually named him that. I was a kid, so get off my back about it already :)

“I wanted to bring a sense of reality and gravity to the world,” he explained while editing the series in a North Hollywood office. “Everything from the performances to the aesthetics should be tethered to a sense of authenticity and grittiness.”
Key to that ambition, the filmmakers said, was using computer effects as little as possible. All the “Halo” hardware — from Master Chief’s armor to the “MA5” gun, Warthog vehicle, and Pelican drop ship — was made with real materials.
“Our hope is that nobody will look at a frame of this and go, ‘Oh, that’s a green screen,’” said producer Josh Feldman. “We built a disproportionate amount of our sets and brought in a visual effects supervisor who won an Emmy for ‘The Pacific.’”
An inspiration, the filmmakers said, has been the popular live-action commercials used to promote previous “Halo” games. An ad for 2009’s “Halo 3: ODST” helped to win director Rupert Sanders the director’s job on this summer’s big-budget tentpole film “Snow White and the Huntsman.”
