I also get such a huge mass effect vibe from this game. It looks as satisfying to kill things in this game as it does in Mass Effect. It always feels so good to kill things in Mass Effect games, especially in 2 and 3, and I get a very similar feel watching that gameplay video.

Yeah well on the first day Halo Fiction panel, if you watch it again, one the guys there was an Excutive Producer on Mass Effect 1 / 2 before he switched to 343i, but yeah i get a def Mass Effect vibe in the cinematics especially.It's anti-germ gel, got to 'Keeep it Clean' remember :)

My word!! Just seen all this new footage and i have to say, this is shaping up to be the most visually impressive console game ever made (By some distance too!)! I dont know if it will be a masterpiece and i doubt it will be the best Halo game in the series (cant see this topping Halo 3), but it really is looking extremely impressive.This just looks stunning!!

The truly amazing part is that I get the sense that their ability to tell a really good story will be just as good as all this other stuff they are showing.

The E3 Demo is direct feed, even though thats now an old build.Yeah i'm getting so excited for Spartan Ops, almost as much as MP.

OP might be over-the-top excited (I'm damn excited as well, to be honest) but you guys are being overly cynical, IMO. Everything they've shown has been quite impressive, and the hands-on feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The Universe (for those of us that care) looks to finally be getting the attention many have been clamoring for. Unless you guys are just pulling some kind of balancing function...

I'm also excited for this game, and after watching both the comicon panels, my excitement has shot up, the care and effort they seem to be putting into this game is off the chart, the direct feed E3 demo and other footage in trailers also leads me to believe this will be the best looking 360 game by far and put it in the top 3 console lookers to date out there.

It doesn't have even be "teh first evar!" to do something, or even have the "best" graphics to be a great game, though. Sure there is a lot of hyperbole but the game, from everything show it looks pretty phenomenal, IMO. Nothing is going to vastly out-pace other games graphically on this hardware, but it DOES look like what many people have been clamouring for graphically for a long time (ie Halo falling short of what people expect for such a huge franchise, visually). The fact that it does stand up there with those frachises is pretty big for the Series...

With all the direct feed stuff I've seen already, I don't really need direct feed of that new, made for theatre trailer to know that this is going to easily be one of the best looking games to ever release on the Xbox 360, if not the best looking game the console has ever seen, period. We have direct feed of SP. We have direct feed of Spartan Ops. With regards to some saying the best looking on consoles, it doesn't really matter, because as far as I'm concerned, it's all opinion anyway.

It's pretty obvious how incredible this game looks from all the footage we have. They are doing everything on a technical and artistic level about as well as you could hope for, coming from a completely new, unproven developer with some big shoes to fill. We can't judge how good the game Halo 4 will be in the end, but we can already clearly see that the thing looks absolutely amazing. We have better than a few small gifs, we have higher resolution video that looks even better than the gifs in this thread, if for no other reason than it's bigger and still looks just as amazing as the gifs. Heck, that gif doesn't even properly showcase the part with the ground falling out from under the Chief, which was one of the best parts.

There is some truth that being overly excited can have its downsides, but it can be said that being overly cynical is even worse, because it includes having the unenviable task of trying to downplay what so far looks like an all around incredible package. Sound design, graphics and art, motion capture, animation, gameplay, cutscenes, completely new or enhanced storytelling mechanisms (scripted gameplay segment from E3 demo and cinematic terminals). 343i are clearly doing a far better job than a lot of people ever thought they would, and as a result, it's clear that they have a proper technical showpiece for the 360 on their hands.

Let's just address the big, fat elephant in the thread/room. 343 is looking like a much more overall skilled developer than Bungie showcased themselves to be after 3 tries on the Xbox 360, and some are just shocked, and this is their way of coping :P That's mostly me just playing devil's advocate, but it's seriously looking more and more like Bungie moving on from Halo was the best possible thing that could have happened to the franchise. I still love the previous Halo games, and they will forever be treasured in my games collection, but if 343i was looking like anything other than a fantastic shepherd for the Halo franchise moving award, you can bet your bottom dollar that everybody would be chomping at the bit to criticize the hell out of 343 for their perceived failures, but 343 is making that pretty damn difficult to do with that they've shown of spartan ops/ and SP.

There's loads of direct feed footage out there, so yes, i'll call you crazy! :)

If they can keep the frame rate steady and the visual quality around the same level as the E3 demo then I have no doubt that it will be.Right on cue, for a moment there, I thought you'd given up!? :o

I'm just glad that they made the CE remake, and helped out on Reach. That means they had plenty of opportunity to absorb just how Bungie created that amazing FPS feel on console that so many other devs have so much trouble matching...
