Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

Halo 3
Halo 4
Now which image do you think is better, taking technical details out of the equation?
I mean i could post these spartan ops gameplay images and tell you to go find any Halo3 gameplay pics that are close to it, screens are good but gameplay footage is always the best matrix.
Whoa, phaethon, please tell me you aren't serious here? The jungle in Halo 3 is utterly destroyed by the one in Halo 4. These two games are not visually close by any stroke of the imagination. Even posting the best possible shots of Halo 3 doesn't change the reality of what you see when you're playing Halo 3. I remember playing that jungle section in Halo 3, and you could barely even know where to shoot sometimes, because it was so damn difficult to see anything. I've rarely ever done so much squinting to see something in any fps. Halo Reach, thankfully, drastically improved on that problem. I thought you were joking with your halo 3 and halo 4 comments, but it isn't even close. Halo 3's jungle is an embarrassment to the one we've seen in Halo 4.

1. The screenshot editor uses better lighting and render processing
2. The game doesn't run at that resolution natively so the textures are sharper
3. Look at that anti-aliasing and the DOF blur, the Xbox hardware can't even do that.
The game you play will not look like that. Don't make me bring Acert93 in here boy howdy I tell you what!
And yes Op, those games look phenomenal. So you think the Halo 4 image I posted looks better than Halo 3's?
Artistically, the Halo 4 bullshot definitely looks better. It looks far more atmospheric than the Halo 3 shot. What makes it a flawed comparison, though, is that you get a better shot of the Halo 3 trees. Whenever you see something remotely close to the Halo 3 shot in Halo 4, which you do in the video footage, the edge is significantly in Halo 4's favor. It has a more convincingly dense look to it. I love Halo 3 to death, but a far more fair comparison would be Reach, even though still inferior to Halo 4, but at least with Reach a good deal of the clarity issues in Halo 3 are fixed, which I think made the game more enjoyable to play.
Personally, I also think that particular section in the Halo 4 bullshot, looks even better in motion. It's the very section where the chief shot at the promethean watcher with the forerunner lightrifle, and then it ran from him. Halo 4 holds up surprisingly well to its own bullshots compared to Halo 3.

Right i'm off to bed.
I loved Halo 3 and it looked great for its day, but you are correct the Halo 4 E3 demo gameplay jungle footage looks leaps better than the Halo 3 jungle cutscene, and so it should do in 2012.

I literally had to get up off my bed, and stand closer to the hdtv in some instances.
LOL, I just noticed the reversed dev logos on the two images. I don't think it's possible to mistake a Halo 3 image for a Halo 4 image :o

Halo 4 looks better than Halo 3. But does it make Halo 3/Reach look like "shit" or some generational leap, holy shit no! This hivemind hyperbole BS is driving me nuts, and the screenshot swap just proved that you don't even understand what your own eyes are telling you.
Good grief.
I have looked at every halo 4 screen, and have watched that E3 demo more times than I'm comfortable admitting. Every released screenshot is saved to my pc, even the gameinformer stuff, and every page of the article. At this point I know them all like the back of my hand, or probably better than the back of my hand. You could take a screen from anywhere, slap a logo on it, and I would immediately know whether or not it came from Halo 4. The only one that legitimately fooled me on first glimpse was the crysis screen that you posted. It's only after you mentioned it, that it occurred to me that I had seen that before, and that it wasn't from Halo 4. And, I love Halo 3, but Halo 4 truly is a huge jump over that game.
The logos couldn't have possibly fooled me when I absolutely nailed exactly where the Halo 4 screen comes from before ever catching the logo switch. Only one of those two screens accurately fits my description, and it's the halo 4 picture with the bungie logo on it :)

I can't speak for anyone else, but the logos aren't what I used to identify either image. Nor did I use your bait Halo 3/Halo 4 bolded text as my guide. I looked straight at the images, knew one was clearly from Halo 3's opening, and one was from the Halo 4 SP demo at E3, and immediately realized that you were attempting a comparison between Halo 3 and Halo 4, using one of the best Halo 3 bullshots, but certainly not THE best, out there.
Even without logos, what also gives the Halo 3 image away is the art style. It's nothing remotely like the art style of the Halo 4 jungle. The differences between Halo 4 and Halo 3/Reach go beyond something as simple as an advantage in tech on the Halo 4 side. The art in Halo 4 is very different from the art shown in either Halo 3 or Reach. I personally think the art shown in Halo 4 so far is the best the series has ever seen. The best art in all of Halo 3 probably goes to the Flood Invested High Charity level of the game, where you go to rescue cortana. Even the intro to that level was beautiful. And this is not me dissing past halo games just for the sake of hyping Halo 4. Reach, too, is also a much better looking game than Halo 3 is by a pretty healthy margin.
LOL, that cat picture is hilarious. I'm guessing I'm the cat, and you're the one with the vacuum? Still, all the Halo games are fantastic, and Halo 4 won't be changing that. It's just the series heading in a new direction, and a lot of people are excited by the unknowns that come with a new developer taking the reigns, the potential possible for this game, how serious they seem to take the fiction, and that what they are showing so far looks like it's living up to what they are saying.

But seriously, I recently played Halo3 again, it it does not look bad at all.
I think what really makes Halo4 the drastically better looking game are small touches such as fog and sunbeams shining through trees.
It ads a lot to the atmosphere!

No two games on the same console this gen have had a graphical leap as big as you are making this one out.
The most striking differences in Halo 4 are the animations. Bungie used keyframing and 343 is using a shit ton of mocap. That's not a graphical difference.

IMO the best looking levels in Halo 3 were the 1st, 4th and 5th.
